Hey everyone, I’m Nat! I’ve been working in coffee since 2017, with most of my experience spent behind the bar like many of us. I’ve always loved the unique style of communication that comes with working in cafés, especially the connection you build with both colleagues and customers. There’s something really special about making someone feel heard from the moment they walk in. These days, I’m part of the team at Blossom Coffee Roasters in Manchester, where I work as a Production Assistant and QC Manager. Big thanks to Vag for creating this community hub it’s amazing to be part of something like this! My setup is rather simple, 80% of coffee are washed, 20% of coffee are natural, conical brewer, & hand grinder. Have a great day people 😇

What is one mindset shift that you want your colleagues to make in themselves, in order for them to become top performers?

@Vag Koulougousidis for me it’s definitely efficiency in the workflow and effective customer service. Make the visit unique enough for them to feel comfortable around the menu and opportunity for exploring coffee both customers and colleagues.

@Vag Koulougousidis I remember a story someone once told me. A customer we’ll call him Jason ordered a flat white at the till, a very common choice. As usual, the barista asked for his name. Over the next two minutes, before his actual drink was ready, Jason’s name was called out a couple of times. Not for his flat white, but for little surprises along the way: first, a sparkling water to keep him refreshed, then a small 30ml sample of a Natural Rwanda. That moment stood out to him because it wasn’t just a coffee it was an invitation to explore something new. It showed that when we give people the chance, most will gladly step into curiosity. Serving coffee is more than making drinks it’s about understanding another human being well enough to create those small, meaningful experiences. This what makes the shop unique
