Decided to check out a pier I wasn’t familiar with in East Boston after a long day of work. Did some light paddling and moon chasing with a good friend of mine. End result? A few hundred calories burned and fireworks at the end of the night!

Got in a good number of start drills with Living Root ( 5 * 4, higher rating each section, plus power 10’s. Also got some newbies on the second boat to practice form and get used to being out on the water. The more experienced boat dumped in three 500m races, shed some good time off of our second one, and a 210-ish m race. The combination of particularly SpongeBobby air and a mostly full boat made this practice challenging and beneficial for the paddlers, in my opinion. Thank you to the coaches and to the dragon boaters who help make it happen! Living Root also hosted a fundraiser/raffle for the team at a local pizza bowling alley during/after practice. Hello Skool! I’m Natalia - I discovered dragon boat around 2008 and have been hooked ever since. My longtime team is Living Root Dragon Boat and I have also loved paddling and drumming for other boats at various races. Looking forward to getting to know people, to improve my form and to return those lessons to my paddling community!

What an amazing day on the water with Living Root Dragon Boat in Boston! The energy from this team was absolutely infectious - you could feel their energy for paddling from the moment we started! We started the warmup and they just TOOK OFF! One of the coolest parts of this clinic was getting to chase alongside in a traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe with wooden iakos. It took some more work from me, but it made it extra fun! There's something special about being on the water in such a beautiful, authentic craft while coaching - it connected me even more to the paddling experience and gave me incredible angles to observe technique! 🛶 The Living Root crew brought focus and enthusiasm to every drill we worked on. From technique fundamentals to power development, these paddlers were eager to learn and quick to implement adjustments. We covered burger and sandwich joints, we talked about beach balls, and we talked about putting away our wallets. Their willingness to push themselves and try new approaches was inspiring to watch! Boston's paddling community continues to impress me with their dedication and team spirit. The combination of serious training and genuine fun that Living Root brings to the water is exactly what makes dragon boat so special. Thank you to everyone who came out for the clinic!
