Why would anyone pay me when it's all free?
I hear this one every week. "Brian, I give everything away on YouTube. Why would anybody pay me a dime?" I asked myself the same question. Then I started Mindset Skool at $5 a month. It's $99 now. Nobody paid for information. They could already get all of it for free on my channel. They paid for more of me. To be closer. To get answers faster. To get into the room. I work with someone who has 50k subscribers and gives away every lesson for free. People still pay them every month. Your comment section is already a community. Nobody's running it. I made a video about it: ▶️ Why People Pay $9 a Month for What You Give Away Free What do people keep asking you for that you've never charged for?

Thank you for spelling that out, "people will pay for more of me, to be closer, get answers faster, be in the room." And then my job is to listen and identify what is it they keep asking me for? Okay, but first I have to say something and be bold about dropping my Skool link EVERYWHERE! Got it 😬😅🫣

41 Views and a Very Nice Thumbnail
You can make a great video that nobody ever sees. People send me theirs all the time. Usually with a note that says "be brutally honest." Which means "please tell me it's good." It usually is good. That's the problem. You have the idea. You film it. You redo the intro four times because you blinked weird in the first three. You spend the evening editing. Then another hour on the thumbnail. Yellow text. Red text. Back to yellow text. Six hours. Maybe more. You hit publish. Next morning, 41 views. A worrying number of them are you, refreshing. So you buy a better mic. I did this too. More than once. There's a drawer in my office full of very nice gear. We don't talk. Nobody watched because nobody was shown. The mic had nothing to do with it. Before anyone hears a word you say, YouTube has to put your video in front of a human. Then that human has to click. Until both of those happen, your mic, your lights and your editing are performing for an audience of zero. Beautifully, I'm sure. Jim had nine videos. 64 views. Not per video. Total. He kept going. Video ten is almost at a million views now. Same guy. Same porch. Same phone. No new mic. You're going to spend six hours on your next video either way. The question is where the first hour goes. The ones who get seen spend it deciding what to make. The topic. The title. The thumbnail. The first 60 seconds. That's what we're doing live on Wednesday, October 21, noon Central (1pm Eastern, 6pm UK). It's called Get Your Video Shown. Bring your channel. Leave knowing exactly what video to make next. Jim will be there to tell you what he did himself. It's included with YouTube to Skool. $7 a month, which is less than the foam windscreen you were about to buy. https://www.skool.com/youtubetoskool/about Drop a comment: what did you buy for your channel that didn't fix anything?

"There's a drawer in my office full of very nice gear. We don't talk." A canon camera, tripod, carrying case, memory cards (plural), content creator lighting kit... we don't talk... 🫣🙄😅

This is what stops YOU from posting
Fear of judgement and negative comments will derail you. If you choose to allow it. I get them. I've had people say awful things to me on the internet. I got one today. Here's how I'm choosing to handle it. Watch the video. My hope it that it will inspire you to move past the stories you tell yourself.

Truth share May 2025 I got my first hate comment. Context ... I have less than 25 subscribers and my view count has historically been low Now before the hate I told myself I was going to frame first hate comment and send it to my mom with the title "Look mom, my first hate comment!" and that I would do this with pride. Here's the thing, I had been on a ROLL - long form and short form reels. I was in a groove. And then hate showed up in my comments "I can't imagine her teaching my kids" 😢 I went through all the phases of grief. Then because I was days away from relocating outside of the US, conveniently decided I needed to pause and focus on my relocation. Its been 17 months ... but that stops today-ish. I've been recording and posting unlisted... TIME TO RELEASE THE DOGS! Thank you Brian

64 Views to Almost a Million
@Jim Justice had nine videos on his channel. 64 views. Not per video. Total. And he wasn't bad at it. His teaching was solid. His thumbnails were cleaner than most. He showed up every week. So I audited his channel. Every video. 113 search phrases run through YouTube to see what his people actually type. The 21 biggest breakout videos in his niche, pulled apart. The first line of the report: "You are not being ignored. You are being unfindable." He was making videos about how to build a consulting offer. Good videos, for people who had already decided to do it. Nobody types that into YouTube. Meanwhile the best story in his whole business was sitting on his About page. He'd never told it on camera. "I lost everything at 60. No savings. No retirement. No backup plan." So the audit told him to make one video. I Lost Everything at 60. This Is What I Did Next. He used the title word for word. Made the thumbnail even better: $1,300 LEFT. Sat on his porch with his phone and hit record. That video is closing in on a million views. 5 subscribers to over 3,000. His next video passed 10,000, which beats his first nine combined by roughly 9,936. Same guy. Same porch. Same phone. He got the topic, the title, the thumbnail and the first 60 seconds right. That's it. On Wednesday, Jim will be there live to tell you himself. Then you run your own channel through the Next Video Builder and leave knowing exactly what video to make next. Get Your Video Shown. Wednesday, October 21, noon Central (1pm Eastern, 6pm UK). Included with YouTube to Skool for $7 a month. https://www.skool.com/youtubetoskool/about Drop a comment with the title of your last video and how many views it got. No judgment.
