What oxide do you think this is?
I would really like to try and stencil a crow on a mug and thought a black oxide or just manganese could look nice? And wax resist over the crow, then mayco birch over the whole mug. Has anyone else tried anything similar? This link is from @leelapottery https://www.instagram.com/p/DUFnM2QjGWS/?img_index=5&igsh=MWc5bTAyanczeXVreA==

@Melanie Russell first try it on a dry piece of greenware it makes a reaction and bubbles the clay up slightly. Try putting the stencil down then apply the vinegar, let it sit on it. Then I would use iron oxide after firing to bisque. I believe there is Utube video on this somewhere, have not seen it for awhile . There’s a mineral I don’t recall the name, that makes reactive movement in the clay similar to bubbling up can’t think of it at the moment. I will try and find it let you know. 😊

Surface decoration classes
Or any other classes you have taken, that you recommend for other potters. Share what you enjoyed about it please in person or online. Could be other classes other than surface decorations.

@Mary Carolyn I understand the beginner issue for sure. It’s better to have cameras, when it’s that many people. I’ve seen a lot of things, over my many years in this clay world. I was just curious ,if other potters on this Skool group, would share who they have taken a class from,if they thought was worth it. Ty for your input much appreciated.
