As many people are starting their day, I’m actually getting ready for bed. My Thursday was packed with meetings, mentoring, conference calls assisting e-commerce entrepreneurs, and finally catching up on my projects. Reflecting on the day, one moment stood out: a meeting with a mentee. She was a walk-in to the SCORE program, and by chance, I happened to be manning the desk during a monthly team meeting. She was a young woman with a full PowerPoint presentation, a firm yet friendly demeanor, and an incredible amount of conviction. While I can’t share the details of our business conversation, I will say this: her passion for her cause and the business she’s building left me absolutely mesmerized. Despite the many obstacles in her plan, she had the drive and determination to see it through. I’m not going to lie—if I had the chance, I would have invested in her without hesitation. She left me fully believing in her vision, even though I still don’t know exactly what the end game is. So here’s what I’ll leave you with: Ideas are a dime a dozen. Everyone has one. But it’s your belief in your idea and your commitment to execute it that truly sets you apart. That’s what investors, partners, and customers see in you. You are the one they’re betting on.
