Thanks for the check in @Laura Brown. Slowly, it’s going slowly 😂 In the end, I did come up with a niche and even came up with a format (Vox-style motion graphics). I’m now working through learning how to do that effectively. So in those ways, I’m making progress. But I’m a terrible project manager because my estimation of how long it would take to get familiar with the necessary components was off (by lots). With all that said though, I will probably have a video done within the next two weeks and, crucially, having my first video done means that I have grasped the process well. For all of the beating up of myself for things like poor time estimation or bad project management, one thing that’s great is that I’m very good at executing on a process once I have familiarized myself with it. I learned that via Notion (ergo the name). Once I got the hang of that tool, building new templates became straightforward and quick. Same with other new skills. So once I’m over this learning hump, I will have what it takes (the skills and the self confidence) to be consistent with my video production endeavors. You’ve caught me in the no-man’s-zone in the meantime though. 😅

@Emmett Glasbrenner I have a hypothesis. What’s “popular” MIGHT be a mix of what is easy to create and wasy to consume. I just watched a documentary/diary by a woman who spent like 40 minutes talking about how striving for a Glow Up nearly killed her. That sort of content requires receipts and a vulnerability. It was suggested to me - I never knew of this creator but even though it was only some weeks old, it had a super high view count. Maybe her channel is big contributes to that (I didn’t check) but really, I strongly suspect it’s more about how raw she was. It’s not a popular topic from a keyword research perspective but my goodness it was resonant and that’s the point I am making. What the keywords and the trends don’t show is how starved we are for realness!

What’s one way you’re using AI for YouTube?
Are you using it for: - Titles - Thumbnails - Scripting - Market research (identifying trending topics) - Editing - Creating slides - Creating motion graphics - Building your descriptions - Creating a list of tags - Something else? And what are your favorite AI tools for what you’re doing? How is the output? Is it what you want? Is it 80% of the way there? How much “fixing up” do you need to do after AI gives you its output?

Because I am leaning towards faceless, I would be using it for an avatar with some videos. HeyGen has a reputation for being best for that. With others, I will be using it for the actual content (I am learning to use tools like HyperFrames - which is from the HeyGen team and Remotion). I probably will use it as part of editing too (Davinci Resolve because I already have it installed and have used it lightly in the past and the AI part would be to use it via an MCP). Probably would use AI on the thumbnail side. Likely Nano Banana or some other normal AI image generator tool.

@Woody Hill I’m hoping so. But still it matters having a sense for aesthetics though. It’s interesting because often, and I’m speaking stereotypically here, it’s the creatives that excel at the vision but struggle with using the technical stuff to execute but the techies who can use the tools but struggle with making the content actually look nice. So it’s possible to end up with a HyperFrames video that’s obviously a techie creator because it basically looks like a fancy PowerPoint presentation. 😂. Wish me luck folks, because I’m over here trying to be a hybrid creator.

🌟 NewTubers Spotlight: Debra Morra is proving consistency wins
I want to take a moment to shout out @Debra Morra again, because her progress deserves a spotlight. If you were around when Debra first joined this community, you might remember her story. She came in with a great idea for a YouTube channel and basically nothing else. No experience making videos, no editing skills, no idea how to make a thumbnail. She just had a willingness to learn and the guts to ask for help. Debra wanted to visit antique shops, meet the owners, dig up hidden treasures, and tell their stories on camera. A “TV show” style channel, built for people who love watching stories unfold. She booked a call with me right after joining and told me exactly where she needed help, including channel branding, thumbnail design, titles, and editing. We worked through a lot of that together, session by session, and she soaked up every bit of it. Fast forward to today, and Debra’s channel, The Antique Detective, just crossed 843 subscribers. She’s stayed consistent, stuck with her niche since day one, and it’s paying off exactly like we talk about in this community all the time. Consistency and clarity beat talent every time.
