Technical Question About Lace Knitting
❓What am I doing wrong? I’m working on a Brother KH-910 knitting machine using a foil pattern for a lace pattern. The machine knits the initial stitches perfectly until I program in the pattern. The foil runs to the start of the pattern, and I knit 2 rows with the knitting carriage. That works without any problems, but then the lace pattern carriage follows, and the foil doesn’t move any further. It selects the correct needles, but the foil doesn’t advance any rows. However, the foil feed is working; otherwise, it wouldn’t pull the foil in. I also make sure to press the RR button before starting, so that the pattern is set to the beginning. But the problem persists. Does anyone have any advice? 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

@Joy Green That's perfectly fine. It's the effort that counts, and I'm very grateful to you for that.
Mistakes - Every maker makes these

Machine knitting has a beautiful learning curve — and every snag, dropped stitch, or tension mystery is actually moving you forward. Even the most experienced makers still hit the occasional head-scratcher. That's not failure. That's the process. Whether you're just starting out, returning after a break, or already knitting regularly — there are common mistakes that catch almost everyone out at some point. Some show up early, others only appear as your skills grow. But they're all solvable, and none of them mean you're doing it wrong. Over the coming weeks I'll be sharing a series of '𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 — 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗶𝘅' posts covering the most frequent challenges machine knitters face — one problem at a time, nice and steady. No overwhelm, no judgement. Just straightforward help when you need it. 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 🧶 💬 𝘐'𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘺𝘰𝘶 — 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵? 🥵It's currently 39 degrees in the shade, and everything feels sticky because the humidity is so high.

Hi everyone, I’ll go ahead and introduce myself… My name is Mirijam, though everyone calls me “Mia.” I’m 50 now and live in Germany, but I’m Italian. I live near Stuttgart. A few years ago, I stumbled upon a knitting machine by chance and started exploring it because I was so fascinated by the technology. I own a Brother KH-910 with a double bed and a modified Silver-Reed motor that I recently found at a household clearance sale. Since I couldn’t find anyone in my area who could teach me machine knitting, I started teaching myself—using videos, trial and error, and online research. That’s how I came across you all. I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas with you… and until then—happy knitting.

@Jan Appleton I totally get that. If I were in your shoes, I’d focus on beginners too. Now, about your question: No, I don’t do this professionally. For me, it’s a creative hobby that takes my mind off my stressful job. I actually have just one question right now, but I’m not sure if you have any advice for me. Since I’m new to Skool, I’m not quite sure if I can post a technical question here or if I should post it on a board designated for that purpose.
Let's give a warm welcome to our latest member
Welcome to the Hub, @Joy Green ! 🧶 It's lovely to have you here — and with such a collection of knitting machines, you've clearly got plenty of experience and stories to share with us. One of the things I love most about this community is how it brings people together from all corners of the world. Different machines, different backgrounds, different journeys into machine knitting — yet here we all are, connected by the same love of the craft and the desire to keep learning. There's something really special about that. ❤️ We're so glad you've joined us, Joy. Looking forward to getting to know you and your machines!
