I miss my boys this week but Iโ€™m enjoying my momโ€™s cats. One really loves belly rubs.
Dogs that like to kiss
Tia canโ€™t be doing with the sloppy stuff, but Troy - oh my goodness!! Iโ€™m out for a few hours and after heโ€™s said his helloโ€™s I need a shower! Heโ€™s not a drooly breed, but he does give a good workout with his tongue. Tell me about how your dog greets you!

Boomer loves to kiss! He gets excited and the tongue comes out! Heโ€™s constantly walking up to his brother and kissing him.

@Sue Crawford yeah I think Remy would say the same thing. ๐Ÿ˜
Sleeping baby
Leif is totally relaxed and deeply asleep, bless him, I love seeing how safe he must feel to be this relaxed, totally vulnerable and total zonked out๐Ÿ˜

Reactivity and reading the signs
Is your dog reactive? Is it sometimes reactive? Will it at times try to self-regulate because something is about to trigger a reaction? Letโ€™s remember that reactivity may not be the barking and lunging that we expect, it could be trying to run away, cowl down and make themselves smaller or even become submissive. Perhaps they have been injured in play and are pre-emptying another incident. My thoughts are, are we reading the signs our dogs are showing us? Or do we just accept that they can be reactive and nothing can be done? I have come to find that Leif does all the usual Lip smacking, almost tip toe, very alert signs, really focused on the oncoming dog. So I ensure that there is Leifโ€™s comfortable distance between us and other dogs. We can then carry on, possibly walking behind the other dog, unless they are coming towards us. I do need to find enough space and at times Leif just watches and we continue our walk. How do you manage reactivity? Are you reading those tells before something happens and taking steps to support?

Aw I play the โ€œfood gameโ€ with the boys when I fill up their daily containers each week. I always did this with Remy alone and he loves it - loves to catch and is proud of good catches. ๐Ÿ˜ Well I got Boomer into it (he just likes to eat not so into the catch part of it). One time they were playing and no one caught it and I guess they both went after it and Remy growled (unfortunately I was focusing on filling the container so I donโ€™t know exactly what happened) but Boomer got scared. Now heโ€™s not comfortable playing the food game and even hid down the hall! Iโ€™ve been getting John to sit with us so maybe he will chill but itโ€™s interesting how that one time triggered him. Usually they play great together!
