Getting smaller tasks done to make space for the important ones- doesn't work
Can you relate to this? My notes on the first Short read I intend to write are "somewhere". Not lost, I just need to look for them. This goes to show that writing the Short read has not been at the front of my mind, doesn't it. Yet, it has- in my heart. All the while I was attending to the other things that I thought needed accomplishing first. Yes, they had to be done first, but I feel such sense of guilt for putting aside what is so very important to me. I seem to be dealing with the small things before engaging with the important things. As if I want to get the smaller tasks out of the way AND THEN focus on what is really important. I have two big projects, meaning- they are very important to me and writing the Short read is one of them. I am turning a new leaf today. I decided to engage with my big projects alongside attending to admin and other small tasks. Not only that, but to do them first thing in the morning!

Thank you so much for your support and positivity Mercy! I heard it somewhere that Readiness is not a feeling- as so many of us think, but a decision. :-)

I decided to stop feeling sad that my FB and recently Youtube posts don't even get to be seen let alone read. I had heard of short reads on Amazon and decided to do that instead. The Universe then showed me one of Dave's videos 😀 So here I am. I am ready to dive in and write my first short read. I am Bulgarian by birth and there is one gorgeous place in my birth country called The Rose Valley. Bulgaria is the second largest exporter of the super duper expensive rose oil. ( it is so expensive it is called "liquid gold"). When I was younger I would visit friends in the region but never went to The Rose Valley. I thought there was time to do that later. In later years. I am now 50 and still have not visited. I carried this regret with such sadness, because even when I eventually visit- friends that lived in that area have since passed away. But I turned that regret around and wrote a composition for cello and orchestra dedicated to The Rose Valley. In my composition through the music I express how I imagine a day visiting The Rose Valley- from the early 5am start for rose petals picking to the afternoon tea with local delicatessen and rose petals jam. That is the land of Spartacus people, of Thracian Kings, so it is quite special from a Historical point of view as well. I look forward to writing my short read about that- how I turned that regret around, how I transformed it into music. I look forward to learning with you and from you. The composition is called Bulgarian piece and can be heard freely on my Topic channel on Youtube. For those of you who don't know what a Topic channel is- my distributor CD Baby releases my tracks in this Topic channel ( not on my personal channel). I have no access to it, hence comments are turned off. But that is my original music there and you are welcome to listen if curious ⭐

Thank you for your kind comment. My composition Bulgarian Piece is about expressing in music how I imagine a day in the Rose Valley. So that would be the focus- how I imagine a day would unfold when I finally visit. The music has already expressed that and now I will do that in a short read :-)

It is so kind of you to comment- thank you. When I was younger I wanted to travel and visit many different places. Nowadays I think that it would be quite alright for some places to be experienced via stories. But I know that scent is not an experience we could easily get from watching movies or reading stories. That fascinates me. One of my music compositions called Travel is dedicated to the Salt cave near Krakow, Poland. During the Pandemic I watched a vlog about it and I was smitten. I decided that when the world opens up again, I'd visit. And in the meantime I wrote the piece that expressed my anticipation of traveling there. Years later I did visit and everything I imagined and expressed in my music composition was exactly right. But I was surprised and amused by the scent of the salt cave. I would love to have a go at describing that scent in one of my short reads. Your comment about waking up to the fragrance of the roses from mile away reminded me of this.
Big news for the community.
I just discovered that Gumroad — where all my products live — has a feature called Purchasing Power Parity, and I've enabled it across everything. Here's what that means: if you're buying from a country where the cost of living is lower, you automatically get a discount. No code needed. No form to fill. It applies on its own the moment you open a product page. The discount can go up to 50% depending on where you're buying from. I noticed more and more people from different countries joining the community, and it made me think — $60 might be nothing for someone buying in euros with a Western European salary, and it might be a real barrier for someone in a completely different economic reality. That's not a reason to keep people out of the method. So I turned it on. If you want to see exactly what discount you're getting based on your location, head to elevatepublishers.com, open any product, and you'll see it applied automatically. That's it. Just wanted to make sure everyone here knew. Dave
