Sharing the Journey! Let me tell y’all what went into getting Water Signal Tracker into the App Store. I’m 65, retired from the airline industry, and I don’t code. I built an app to help people report water problems in their communities, using AI tools and my Windows laptop. Building it was one thing. Getting it through Apple was a whole other education. 😂 I started my first submission on September 7. That night, I began at 7:48 p.m. and was still working after 2 in the morning. My tools were Lovable, GitHub, Codemagic, App Store Connect and TestFlight. And no, I didn’t already know how all those pieces worked together. First, the build failed in Codemagic. It was running a command called npm ci that expected a file my project didn’t have. The fix was changing the command to npm install, saving it in GitHub and rebuilding. Sounds quick when I type it here. It was not quick when I was trying to understand what went wrong. 😅 Then came the waiting. And the rejection. Apple opened my app and saw “Forbidden.” My app was pointing to a private Lovable address instead of the public address. The reviewer couldn’t get in! We corrected that and rebuilt it. Meanwhile, I’m waiting for approval and learning that getting into TestFlight does NOT mean your app is approved for the public App Store. Build 1. Build 2. Build 3. Build 4. Finally, build 5. On September 21, Apple approved Water Signal Tracker for distribution. 🙌🏾 Two weeks after my first submission. That time included waiting, troubleshooting, fixing and resubmitting. I never bought a Mac. Codemagic handled the Mac build in the cloud while I worked from Windows. This is part of why I created the No-Mac course here. I know what it feels like to have an app you want people to use, then get stuck trying to get it into their hands. AI helped me through it, but I still had to test, read the feedback and keep going when something didn’t work. So when I ask what you’re building, understand that I’m over here building and figuring things out too. 😂💛

Calm Pals just landed in TestFlight and Demo Day is tomorrow. First one, and yes there are ERRORS 😬 If I'm slow to reply, I'm shipping. Excited to share more on the other side.

It's a 72-hour virtual build event for women building with AI, October 15–17. My project: SignalLaunch, the Deployment Hub for my Water Signal Tracker. Here's the story. WST worked in Grenada because I personally got people to use it. When I tried to take it further, I learned the hard way that technology travels, but trust doesn't. SignalLaunch helps local partners bring a community on board, and shows which neighborhoods are still unheard. My demo zone: Dallas, where I was born.
