Many SEOs say “backlinks are dead” – but the truth is, Google still considers high-quality backlinks as a top ranking factor. 👉 What’s your honest opinion: Do backlinks still move the needle for your websites in 2025?
@Kirill Anikin unlinked mentions on high authority sites, eg Reddit absolutely help. They also help with GEO Generative Engine Optimization, or whatever you want to call it eg ranking in LLMs such as ChatGPT. They help with brand prominence, query fan-outs, etc. Reddit is considered as being mostly UGC - user generated content so it is more trusted to uncover what people think about a brand.
th guest posts and niche edits are popular link-building strategies. But if you had to choose only one for long-term SEO growth, which would it be and why? Let’s hear your thoughts!
Niche edits are placed on aged posts/pages, that might have backlinks and traffic of their own. Ideally, these posts/pages are processed and indexed by Google. Depending on the actual content, other links on the page, wrapping text, and general niche of the website (criteria that also applies to guest posts), niche edits can be a lot more valuable than guest posts. E.g. comparing apples to apples guest posts vs niche edits. This seems to also be the consensus of the people specializing solely in linkbuilding, eg link sellers that I talked to.
