Midweek Musing
Hello lovely Cottage Creatives! It's nearly the end of the day for me and the start for many of you. Life is like a rollercoaster for me - one week is calm and creative, and the next can be crazy and chaotic! On the second not much creating can happen and that's ok. I do try to invest time in learning something her on skool from the likes of @Sharon Jones who is a wealth of wisdom when it comes to skool business and I've been sneaking into @Diana Berryman's classroom too, she's just added some content which is worth checking out, and I've also been over to @Deb Boutzetis community and learnt how to make a yummy sauce! (it's a secret!). However, as far as actually creating myself, it's been a no-go zone! So, to help me thru this Crazy Chaos week, I'd love to know what you are creating or focusing on! Oh, I did dig up some little potatoes!

@Diana Berryman I am going to start a Skool community literally in a month with no monetization plan, just a welcoming USA history community for those interested. Is your opinion that I can start that way, all free, not “solving a problem” except that it will be a community for history people that I could lead. Like start doing Revolutionary war battle week, George Washington week, Thomas Jefferson week, USA Constitution week, US Citizenship test week, etc…
Messy Monday Madness!
I'd rather be making a mess while making journals, but today I worked in my Cleaning and Declutter business for 5 hours straight! It's called Cottage Declutter & Clean, and it was a start-up initiative of mine a couple of years ago when I needed some extra $ and was feeling stressed working two jobs for 'the man'. I wanted to be my own boss. I decided to work for me - and it was as easy as that! I put a photo up on FB and started telling my cleaning story! I'm good at it, really good, so I thought, why not get paid for it? Next minute, I had myself a fully fledged business, one that I can take with me wherever I go! Soon I'll be offering a one-on-one call for anyone who might need a little encouragement and some help getting started. It could be as simple as taking what you have in your hands right now, and you could be making an extra $ to. This was the simple photo I used on FB with a quick post, and the next day I had my first job and here's one of the journals that also provide income! So not only do I hold a feather duster, but I also have these journals, and sweet cloths I create in my hands too!

Great idea, Stephanie! I am actually “working” on YouTube and very soon going to start a Skool community specifically to earn at least a supplemental income which I will have to have in 6 years. Yes, I am not waiting that long so I am actually taking a full week and weekend off from creating to reassess the “real reason” I started on YouTube, which was actually for a math tutoring entrepreneur try at a business. I had been working as a math tutor for a company sort of as an hourly independent contractor. That was when I was also a Teachers assistant, which I no longer am at the group home

@Sharon Jones Yes , but those were my first 13 videos when I shifted “niches”, but it’s my origins story. Very few of us just show up just “knowing best practices”. My working theory is that YouTube creation is college to professional. These creators who can just start and not expect obstacles and difficulties “breaking through”, because we do “compete for attention”. However, I found you can break through if you’re content is “searchable” and for me, visually compelling with your/my unique take that you/I actually believe

Welcome @Natalie Darger and @Abheeti Kathryn Pass to this wonderful community. A fellow teacher is here and piano playing is a skill I was never able to master, must be my hand-eye coordination. Anyway, welcome!

@Natalie Darger I taught middle school subjects for 3 years in Philadelphia but history and math are what I am best at and I tutor math. As for the piano, we had one when I was young but it wasn’t a talent I had, after 6 weeks of piano lessons, I was frustrated because it didn’t come naturally. I believe it is a talent like I have in Math where I can simply do complex calculations others can’t

Just hit the link, you will be surprised at the knowledge Julianne shares! She has an amazing community based around preserving history - this stood out because of the creative content! https://www.skool.com/ricochet-4274/needleworkan-almost-lost-art?p=5a3df7a4
