Help with Mixing
Hey everyone, I hope you're having a great time! I kind of am stuck with the song I'm producing and I can't figure out what's wrong with the mix. Some help would be amazing and I'd be eternally grateful. Cause after hours of work this song is bugging me slowly... If you could tell me what I could change for the mix so it doesn't sound muddy or chaotic, that would be great. Thank you for your time:) From 0:42 is the relevant part and build up. The beginning is to be recorded again:3 My goal is to have a beautiful atmospheric bride mix but it should sound clean. (I'm starting to hate mixing 😭) (What I already tried: Mono listening and I know that brideness is luxury, Checking the busses/sections to cut out the annoying frequencies, putting some mixes down like reverb and being subtle with it) https://on.soundcloud.com/qRT2ScFkCAyfJpUXRU

@Dilara Köseoglu Wish I could offer some useful advice here but this sounds good to me and I don't really hear any issues with it lol. Others may hone in on things though so see what they say. It's very easy to overthink mixing!! If you have references for the style you are aiming to replicate perhaps share them.
„Play it in“ vs Keyboard and Mouse
I would be really interested in how you guys normally compose a new Track. Do you normally Play all the parts in with the MIDI Keyboard or are you more of a „putting the notes in“ kind of person :D ? If you are playing all the parts in , how do you keep track of the Chord progression (making sure the notes fit into the current chord) ? I normally put the notes in with the mouse but really am trying to get better at the keyboard , as I think this would be a good boost to my productivity if I could play the parts in efficiently.

@Marcel Gruhn I always play everything on a MIDI keyboard or with real instruments if the track calls for it. With MIDI stuff I always edit heavily after the fact with the mouse! It's the way that works best for me, I find ideas come more naturally when playing vs drawing it in.

@Marcel Gruhn Yeah I don't worry too much about that, I prefer to let ideas flow and worry about the technical details later. Sort of like doing a rough sketch and then going in and filling in all the details after!

My experience thus far firmly suggests networking and connections are far more important than a good demo reel (though no doubt the latter is good to have) I wouldn't have made the progress I have if not for reaching out to others and building relationships.
My YouTube Short says it was blocked due to copyright-protected audio.!?
Hi everyone, I just started my own YouTube channel to share my journey as a music composer and post music-related content—like guitar playing and short tutorials. I received a YouTube notification that this Short was blocked due to copyright-protected audio. The strange thing is, the video uses my own original music. The claim shows up under something called HAAWK for a 3rd Party, which I’ve never heard of before. Has anyone else run into this? I’d really appreciate any advice on what steps I should take next. I’ve linked the video here for reference—thanks in advance for any help!

@Juan Mendez if you have released the song on streaming platforms your distributor likely automatically flags when the song is used anywhere, and unless you connect your YouTube account to prove you are the rights holder, they'll assume you are someone else. That might not be what is happening here since you don't recognize the claimant, but I know when I ran a channel for my original music a number of years ago and experienced the same thing, this was the cause. Do some digging first just to be sure If you did release this song, who did you use for distribution?
Motivation Buddy
Hey everyone, I’m looking for someone from the community to partner up with as a motivation/challenge buddy 🎶 The idea: We set each other themes or prompts (for example, a soundtrack for a specific mood/scene). Each of us creates something based on it and then we share the results. The goal is to keep each other motivated, push our creativity, and grow together. We force each other to send out emails, connect with new people, work on our mindset, do the courses of Alex (Cause I'm not finished yet) If there's many people interested in this, we can make a group. I'm mostly on Whatsapp or Discord if anyone wants to do it on these platforms. (Please only if you're serious I experienced so many group flops getting inactive) The reason why I wanna do this is so I don't keep getting stuck and I have someone who is pushing me and I'm also pushing them. Cause I'm slowly getting back into it and about the business I would love a friend. I wanna stop being lazy and procrastinating. Not just music, maybe even to cook more, stop being lazy, cleaning the house more and any other chores or tasks the life brings to us. If anyone’s up for this, hit me up 🙌

@Dilara Köseoglu Accountability is a very powerful thing Dilara, I sought it out in another group I'm part of and it was a gamechanger for me. I'd be interested in joining an accountability group if you decide to go that route. I've made some good progress this year with Sync Licensing but I know I can be doing more, especially on the networking front.
