I just wanted to tell you... ๐Ÿ’›
If this week felt heavier than you expected, that doesn't mean you failed. Sometimes surviving the week is the win. You don't have to earn your rest by finishing every task, answering every message, or having everything figured out. This weekend, let yourself slow down where you can. - Drink the coffee while it's still hot. - Take the walk. - Cancel the plan if you need to. - Laugh at something stupid. - Let your nervous system catch up with you. Your worth was never measured by how productive you were this week. I'm really glad you're here. Have a gentle weekend. ๐Ÿค

I survived! Had double parenting duty this week and was juggling quite a lot with my kids starting intensive daily swim lessons. But I was proud that I tackled things without much stress or forgetting things. I was calm and composed for the most part. A year ago, I think I would have been frazzled throughout, and it has felt much different this time around. Like I can tackle a lot of things with solid planning and focused prioritization.

๐Ÿง  How many tabs are open?
Quick question. If your brain were a browser right now... How many tabs would be open? ๐Ÿ‘€ No judgment. Just your best guess. Drop a number below.

Probably 3 buckets -- work, family, and business. I've started practicing emptying the thoughts that I have into different systems -- regular tasks go into a Notion Database. Urgent tasks go onto my calendar. Always a work in progress but it's helped me to not carry them in my head all the time (and feel like they always need to be done immediately before I forget :)

๐Ÿ‘‹ Start Here: Welcome to Heavy Minds Society
I'm really glad you're here. Heavy Minds Society is a space for people whose minds rarely slow down. Whether you overthink, carry too much emotionally, or simply feel exhausted from holding everything together - you don't have to figure it all out alone. There are no perfect answers here. No toxic positivity. Just honest conversations, practical tools, and people who get it. ๐Ÿ“š Step 1: Explore the Classroom Start by looking around the Classroom. You'll find free resources designed to help you better understand your mind, reduce overwhelm, and build small, realistic habits that actually fit real life. Take your time - there's no rush. ๐ŸŒฑ Step 2: Ready for a little more structure? If you're looking for guided support, check out the 5-Day Heavy Mind Reset. It's a short, practical challenge designed to help you calm the mental noise, understand what's happening in your brain, and take your first steps toward feeling less overwhelmed. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Step 3: Introduce yourself We'd love to get to know you. Tell us as much or as little as you're comfortable sharing: - Where are you from? - What brought you here? - What's one thing your mind has been carrying lately? - And what's something that brings you a little bit of peace? Welcome. We're really happy you're here. ๐Ÿ’›

Hello! I'm Michelle from Pennsylvania. I've always identified as a high achiever. PhD in Chemistry from Yale University. Continued working at Yale for a program called Yale Young Global Scholars running the academics for high achieving high school students. Now am the Managing Director for top tier STEM program at another Ivy League school. I first encountered imposter syndrome when I was a graduate student and was weighed down heavily by thoughts that I wasn't good enough / smart enough / knew enough to be a PhD candidate. These thinking patterns ebbed and flowed depending on my role. I felt more confident when I went into the working world but each time I hit a new promotion, I would feel the same "I don't know what I'm doing" vibes. At the height of COVID, when I started my new job and was taking care of a 1-year old, I realized I was spiraling into a lot of negative thinking and needed to get it under control, so I learned a lot of techniques for how to manage my mind and want to help others do the same! Glad to be a part of this community.

@Ann Boen Yes, exactly! We are socialized to go after achievement as the prize, but we're on our own in terms of navigating the way we talk to ourselves on the way towards it and after we get it. I've encountered many students who hit the accomplishment of getting into a prestigious school, but if it's difficult they make it mean that they aren't cut out for that program or major or they're bad at X subject or that everyone else has it figured out except for them. Thanks for creating this space!
