I just wanted to tell you... 💛
If this week felt heavier than you expected, that doesn't mean you failed. Sometimes surviving the week is the win. You don't have to earn your rest by finishing every task, answering every message, or having everything figured out. This weekend, let yourself slow down where you can. - Drink the coffee while it's still hot. - Take the walk. - Cancel the plan if you need to. - Laugh at something stupid. - Let your nervous system catch up with you. Your worth was never measured by how productive you were this week. I'm really glad you're here. Have a gentle weekend. 🤍

@Amy Walker That makes perfect sense. Like your brain is running at 200 mph, but in ten different directions at once instead of one 😅 What's that been looking like for you today?

@Amy Walker I love hearing that. 💛 Sometimes our brains take the scenic route, but we still end up exactly where we need to be. I just joined your community too, so I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone over there as well. 😊

Hello
Hi, I’m Sally and I work full time for an online accounting software company helping app developers build integrations with the accounting software. I have just had my 60th birthday and I am celebrating for the whole month of June. If I have to pass a milestone age I intend to have fun to compensate. I have fibromyalgia and combined with being post menopause my brain is currently extremely foggy. I have a lot of good intentions to have an organised meal plan and tidy home and then the week has gone and I’m just as disorganised with an unticked to do list. When I have down time I can’t make a decision on what I want to do. I also have a reactive dog who freaks out at being out of the house, not quite the happy walking companion I imagined when I got him. Has anyone got any tips on how to actually get stuff done? Fun fact, my late Godmother is the Grandmother of the actor Damian Lewis

Hi Sally, welcome, and happy 60th. A whole month of celebrating is the right call. What you described, the week disappearing with your list still untouched and then not even being able to decide what to do with your downtime, is basically the core experience here. Add fibro fog and post-menopause on top and it's genuinely exhausting. That's not a discipline problem, so please don't read it as one. What helps me most isn't a longer list, it's taking the deciding out of the bad days. When my brain works I pick a few defaults, like the same easy dinner on certain nights, or three things I'm allowed to do in my downtime so I'm not staring at endless choice. On a foggy day past-me already decided, so present-me just follows. The deciding is the part that eats me, not the doing. But that's just what works for me, and everyone's brain is different. So I'll put your question to the group too, because plenty of people here have figured out their own ways to get things done on a foggy day. What works for you all? (And the Damian Lewis fact is excellent.) Really glad you're here. 🍀
