I was hooked up to heart monitor, intravenous antibiotics 24/7, a breathing mask with medicine flowing in my lungs around the clock. Not feeling very good at all. But I put forth the effort to make the nurses, the tech people, the room maids etc to smile. I said thank you regularly. Id make a funny comment to them, I smiled constantly when others entered my room. I had no family or friends visit me because I didn't let them know I was in the hospital so they wouldn't worry. I made calls today. But a nurse on her day off brought me a full turkey n dressing n all the fixings dinner because I brightened her day. Another aide would sneak me snacks n drinks because I made her have joy at work. All the medical people wanted a hug when I was discharged today. Those actions, the smiles I brought to their faces, the small but good effect on their lives made me happy also. Random acts of kindness. They cost nothing but they can bring joy during difficult times. Their appreciation made my struggles less important.
