I'm finally on the sunny Gulf Coast of Mississippi. That was a two day cluster duck of an experience. Now that it's over with I can laugh about it. This facility found out how bad management was at the other place. But that's another story. It's 11:45 pm CST I'm out of the possibility of being in another Ice storm like we had in northern Mississippi. Which had us in a nursing home with no electricity or water for 4 days n nights with temps of 9 at night. Yes they had automatic generators but not enough to run entire facility. No heat in rooms, no tv or internet, no water, limited choices for meals. We had to stay dressed like we were going outside in winter weather, at all times and were issued more blankets since we had to keep room doors open to allow heat in to our rooms. It was a blast! He says sarcastically. Lol. Life is an adventure! My brother and my son both told me they were impressed that I did not go "Darth" on the Director and the Operations Manager a few different occasions the month I was there. I laughed I said yes, me too. My brother lost his cool Tuesday and I kinda just watched with a snicker. The rest of the staff and the residents (not patients) on my wing said the hated seeing me leave. One month behind me. I will tell you this. Going in a rehab nursing home is not a vacation, a hotel room, a friends home you may visit, not an Airbnb. It's a hospital with much stricter rules and extended loss of freedom. It's kinda like being in prison but without bars, just locked doors and all freedom and independence is GONE. Oh and the staff in the offices are so smiley and nice. Sign the papers and step into your room and it's like changed people. They the bosses and you just adjust and say yes sir and yes ma'am. Learn to eat some meals you're not sure what it is even after taking a bite! No reality hits. And all those "friends' that gonna come visit you and check on you? Hmmmm I had one visitor during my stay there. My brother that came to let me leave for a few hours to remember what the outside feels like. LOL. That was a dramatic statement. 😁
