๐Ÿ† What we think is a Win!
Submitted your first proposal โœ… - Registered in SAM โœ… - Completed your capability statement โœ… - Made your first teaming connection โœ… - Earned a certification โœ… - Started your business โœ… - Won a contract โœ… The purpose of the Wins category is to celebrate progress, not just awards. For many members, submitting their first proposal is a huge milestone. Yesterday, CFS submitted another government contract proposal! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ That brings us to two active proposals currently awaiting award, and yesterday we also received pricing on another opportunity that we're now preparing to submit. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that success in government contracting isn't just about winning contractsโ€”it's about building a consistent pipeline of opportunities. Over the past several weeks, we've been leveraging AI to help us research opportunities, organize information, analyze solicitations, develop proposal strategies, and improve efficiency throughout our bidding process. It's allowing us to focus more time on strategy and less time on repetitive tasks. Our goal isn't simply to submit more bidsโ€”it's to submit better, more competitive proposals while continuing to build relationships and expand our capabilities. If you're just getting started, remember this: Every contract you win begins with the decision to submit a proposal. Don't wait until everything is perfect. Learn, improve, and keep moving forward. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with this community and celebrating your milestones as well! What's one business or government contracting win you've had recently? I'd love to celebrate it with you! ๐ŸŽ‰

Most Small Businesses Never Bid on a Government Contract... Here's Why
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is: "Government contracting is only for large companies." The truth is, thousands of contracts are awarded every year to small businesses. Yet many business owners never submit a single bidโ€”not because they aren't capable, but because they don't know where to start. Even if you never win your first opportunity, you'll gain something valuable: โœ… You'll learn how agencies buy. โœ… You'll better understand your industry. โœ… You'll begin building relationships. โœ… You'll develop systems that can help your business grow. Government contracting isn't a guaranteed source of revenue, but it can become another stream of opportunity when approached strategically. The first step isn't submitting a proposal. The first step is learning the process. Every expert started as a beginner. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Discussion Question If someone showed you exactly how to get started with government contracting, what would be your biggest concern or question? I'd love to hear where you are in your journey. ๐Ÿš€ Call-to-Action If you're serious about learning government contracting and growing your business alongside other entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and small business owners, you're in the right place. Stay engaged, ask questions, and take advantage of the free resources shared here. Small, consistent steps can lead to big opportunities over time.

My biggest question has shifted over the past few weeks. It used to be, "How do I win my first contract?" Now it's, "How do I consistently position myself where buyers are making purchasing decisions?" I'm realizing government contracting isn't just about writing proposals. It's understanding agencies, buying offices, acquisition methods, and building relationships before opportunities arise. That mindset shift has been one of my biggest lessons so far.

Thank you @Tara Slaughter CFS Community Team. I really appreciate that perspective. One thing your comment reinforced for me is that research isnโ€™t just about finding opportunities. Itโ€™s also about discovering where demand is growing and where my business needs to evolve. Every award, spending pattern, and procurement decision is market intelligence. Thatโ€™s changing how I think about EAC. Instead of asking, โ€œWhat contract can I pursue next?โ€ Iโ€™m asking, โ€œHow can I build services that naturally align with where agencies and prime contractors are already investing?โ€ That feels like a much more sustainable way to grow.

Hi everyone! I'm Michelle from East Texas and the Founder of Elevate & Automate Consulting. I recently completed my SAM registration, received my UEI and CAGE code, and I'm currently in the second review stage for my WOSB certification. My background includes executive operations, business systems, process improvement, AI, documentation, and operational modernization. I'm exploring how those skills can help agencies and government contractors improve efficiency and solve operational challenges. Right now my focus is learning how agencies buy, building relationships, understanding different acquisition paths, and positioning my business for long-term success, not just chasing solicitations. Looking forward to learning from everyone and contributing as I grow in this journey!
