Have you lifted some heavy sh*t today?
The 5 Biggest Reasons to Build Muscle & Stay Active as You Age (No, It’s Not Just for Gym Bros 💪) 1️⃣ Fight the Muscle Heist & Stay Strong. Aging is basically a slow-motion robbery where your body steals your muscle (sarcopenia, if you wanna get fancy). Less muscle = more weakness, wobbly balance, and a VIP pass to Falls-R-Us. Strength training keeps you strong, steady, and able to carry all your grocery bags in one trip—because we don’t do second trips. 2️⃣ Boost Metabolism & Burn Fat While You Binge Netflix. Muscle is like that friend who always pays for dinner—it works for you even when you’re doing nothing. More muscle = a faster metabolism, meaning you burn more calories at rest. Translation: You don’t have to starve yourself to stay lean. 3️⃣ Bulletproof Your Bones & Say No to Creaky Skeleton Syndrome. Lifting weights isn’t just for muscles; your bones need love too. Strength training tells your bones to get denser and stronger, reducing the risk of osteoporosis. Strong bones = less chance of snapping like a breadstick if you take a tumble. 4️⃣ Hack Your Hormones & Stay Youthful. Muscle keeps your hormones in check—think testosterone, growth hormone, and insulin sensitivity (aka, the big players in energy, mood, and anti-aging). Want better sleep, a happier mood, and to fight off age-related blahs? Lift heavy things. 5️⃣ Sharpen Your Mind & Stress Less. Exercise isn’t just a body thing—it’s a brain boost. Strength training pumps up dopamine and serotonin, keeping depression, stress, and brain fog in check. Translation: You’ll feel sharper, less frazzled, and way less likely to forget where you put your damn keys. 🚀 Bottom line: Muscle is your best anti-aging secret weapon. It keeps you moving, lean, strong, and sharp while protecting your bones and brain. Future-you will thank you. Which one of these reasons hits home the most for you?👇

Ah ha moment
I was filling out the Food is Information sheet, and the first food choice I wrote was "cookies" I sat for a minute thinking about how it made me feel...and I wrote "it makes me feel like home" . When I thought about why it made me feel that way I started crying. We moved from Vancouver to the ranch in the Interior when I was 11. I had to take a large part in running the house and looking after my younger sister and brothers as my Dad worked for BC Tel, and my Mom would be out in the field. So I did a lot of the cooking and baking, which I ended up being pretty good at. It was always a validation to me to be praised on my skills in the kitchen as I was never a great athlete or scholar. When my kids were younger they never had store bought cookies or treats. When their friends would come over they were always so happy to have homemade stuff (and my kids were excited to have store bought when they went to their friends 😄) Once I started working in my current job, cooking for gatherings is a huge part of who I am. I didn't realize how much my worth was wrapped up in being a "good cook". I am sitting here right now struggling not to go bake something right now, cause that's what I do when I'm home and at loose ends, or just feel the need to create something good.

@Cindy Legare I'm so glad I had such a bad reaction, otherwise I probably would have kept taking it hoping for that quick fix miracle
