Big Amazing News 🤩🤩🤩
Hear ye hear ye - Come Round. It’s official. Veterans Getting Fit AF will be hosting the first ever Canadian Silkie Hike in Montreal. 🤩 A « silkie hike » is an American inspired veteran morale event, held in over sixty cities, worldwide and I have the honor of hosting the first ever in Canada. 🇨🇦 The goal is to have a ton of fun, connect and heal while looking absolutely ridiculous wearing short shorts. When we formalize dates and times, you’ll be the first to know. Here’s more info about the Irreverent Warriors Organisation that is the parent organization https://www.irreverentwarriors.org/

The Food Pyramid Has Flipped!!🤯
Announced last week…The famous “food pyramid” developed in the 70s has been flipped on its head. Now the question is. Are you going to change your diet to reflect way more protein and fat intake and less starchy, grain based carbohydrates?

Most of my diet is either from the garden, hunted, and supplemented from grocery stores when I run out. Meal ingredients are short - meat, vegetables, sometimes rice and potatoes or pasta. Bread is still in my diet - sandwiches survive my cruiser vest better than leftovers

@Dave Morrow definitely. Bear, deer, elk - all finger licking good with a side of lemon-dill carrots or fermented beets or carrots
Are You A “Lector Americanus?”
Came across this during my Sunday Substack scroll. According to The Atlantic, less than half of Americans read a book in the last month. Canadian stats are similar. That’s not good. Reading is my favourite thing to do when I’m pooping 💩 I read at least 3 poop books a year plus the “non poop” books I read. Grand total of about 6 to 7. Currently I’m reading the newest Dan Brown, The Secret of Secrets, Longevity by Dr. Attia and Supercommunicators by Duhigg. What’s on your poop 💩 book reading list?

Currently reading - Rescuing the Rescuer, The Wild Edge of Sorrow, and Sergio. Sergio worked for UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Starting in 1980s (Lebanon, Cambodia, Vietnam boat people, Bosnia) to 2003 Iraq

@Dave Morrow Rescuing the Rescuer is well written. Jeff was a 36 year SAR volunteer in BC and the book explores his SAR career, warning signs of PTSD, and his fight to have WorkSafeBC recognize PTSD in SAR. The Wild Edge of Sorrow is deep. Sergio is a biography and is not a fast or easy read.

I was going to make the same comment as Stephanie. RICE is effective - maybe, depends on the injury and what RICE is paired with for recovery.
Did you over indulge?
I’ve got a confession to make. I ate like a fat kid this entire Xmas season. I really went hard on the sweets. Especially my wife’s peanut butter cookies 🍪 What do you stuff your face with? PS - Carnivore challenge starting Thursday will shed the added fluff.

@Stephanie McEvoy the -40 is a good reason to move but the car is either frozen to the ground or won't start :)

@Dave Morrow it was a white Christmas. Kids can toboggan onto the driveway. Photo gallery of deep snowfall in Fort St. John in December 2025
