Why I am here
Now that I got to level 2 and I can post... I am part of other communities where they talk about how great workflow and n8n is, but they don't go into the nuts and bolts. I like the n8n channel tutorials to get you started, but it's mostly explaining what the stuff IS not how to really build workflows, package them, etc. I stumbled on Herk's 8 hour video. Yeah, it's like watching paint dry in places since I already know something (that's why we have a 1.5x button on YT), but it goes DEEP and that's what I need. I am not just downloading his templates. I am building as I go. There are places I get stuck then I just look at his json file for a moment and move on. You learn by doing, and hopefully I will learn more here. My goal is to be able to build workflow to help my blogging business. From there, who knows? Maybe build my own workflow business. I'm game...

@Andrey Marey agreed. Just copying it isnโ€™t as helpful as trying to be creative. But you have to start somewhere and actually clicking the buttons is better than not. Invariably you make errors which forces you to learn by troubleshooting

@Andrey Marey So about 30 minutes into the 1.5 hour tutorial that Nate did about a year ago, there is a customer support workflow that starts with watching a google sheet and ends with an email. I could NOT do exactly what he did. For example, he had a simple prompt that magically knew how to break out the subject and body of the email into the output. Mine didn't. I ended up telling it how to do it, use the AI Agent module instead of the Open AI module Nate did, and tell it to output in a specific format. The short of it is, sometimes the video doesn't tell you exactly what to do, so you really do learn from doing it

Mike here. Retired software engineer, patent attorney, cybersecurity analyst. Can't go back to work ATM (caring for a sick relative) so I am diving into AI. I have a blog about mini pcs and raspberry pi. I am also teaching myself AI workflow and have built a few but really want to learn how to do it right.
