Start one of these businesses in 2026
1. AI-Powered Compliance Tracker Target: Construction, healthcare, logistics, finance. Problem: Businesses face increasing compliance/regulation requirements. App Idea: Build an AppSheet or Airtable app that auto-logs compliance checks, integrates AI to summarize gaps, and sends alerts before deadlines. Revenue Model: Subscription per seat ($99–$499/month), plus setup fees. Why 2026? Regulations and ESG reporting are only increasing, and companies want lightweight, mobile-friendly tools instead of enterprise bloat. 2. Field-Service Niche Apps (Vertical SaaS) Target: Contractors, property managers, solar installers, pest control. Problem: They juggle scheduling, invoicing, and technician accountability with paper or spreadsheets. App Idea: White-label dispatcher/work-order apps — mobile-first with GPS check-ins, photo uploads, and customer review capture. Revenue Model: SaaS ($199–$599/month per crew), with optional add-ons (e.g., storm data, weather alerts). Why 2026? The “vertical SaaS” wave is accelerating — niche-specific apps scale faster than broad platforms. 3. AI-Driven Micro-Learning App for Teams Target: Mid-sized businesses with distributed workforces. Problem: Training is expensive, clunky, and not engaging. App Idea: A mobile app that delivers 5-minute micro-lessons, quizzes, and AI-chat coaching tied to company SOPs or compliance. Revenue Model: Per-employee monthly fee ($10–$20/user).Why 2026? Corporate learning budgets are growing, and AI is making “just-in-time” training possible. 4. Client Intake + Workflow Automator Target: Service businesses (law firms, accountants, agencies, clinics).Problem: Intake forms and follow-ups are scattered across email, forms, spreadsheets. App Idea: A no-code app that unifies intake → auto-assigns staff → tracks status → sends branded updates to clients. Revenue Model: Setup fee + monthly subscription ($249–$799/month).Why 2026? SMBs want automation without paying for Salesforce or HubSpot.

Not every day is a 'Grand Opening' win, and that’s okay. Sometimes the momentum slows down, or the clarity you had yesterday feels a bit foggy. The key is to not confuse a 'Cloudy Day' with a 'Total Failure.' When the energy feels muted, don't try to force a 'High-Vibe' result. Instead, focus on the consistency of the work. Keep the internal fire burning even when the external results aren't shining yet. Success isn't just about the moments in the spotlight; it's about staying the course when the light is dim. Keep moving—the clouds always pass.

We all hit a point where the scale of the goal starts to feel heavy. When you’re building something meaningful, your brain will eventually try to protect you by highlighting every possible way things could go wrong. It creates 'mental noise' that can feel paralyzing. Today’s challenge is to separate your worries from your reality. Most of the things we stress about are 'ghost problems'—scenarios that haven't happened and likely won't. When the pressure peaks, stop looking at the 'What-Ifs' and start looking at the Data. What do the logs actually say? What does the bank account actually show? Don't let a bad night’s sleep dictate your strategy. Check the facts, clear the noise, and stay the course.

What is an ICP?
An ideal Customer Profile, is a detailed, data-driven description of the companies or customers that are the best fit for your product or service, representing those most likely to find value, purchase, and become loyal, profitable clients. It acts as a "north star" for sales, marketing, and product teams, guiding efforts to focus resources effectively on high-potential targets rather than broad audiences, boosting conversion rates and growth. Key characteristics of an ICP: - Firmographics: Industry, company size (employees, revenue), location, growth rate. - Technographics: Current tech stack, digital maturity, software usage. - Business Challenges: Specific pain points, goals, buying triggers, and problems your solution solves. - Behavioral/Purchasing Data: How they buy, budget, and decision-making processes.  Why ICPs are crucial: - Streamlines Sales & Marketing: Focuses efforts on prospects that genuinely need your offering, improving engagement and win rates. - Aligns Teams: Ensures everyone from marketing to product development is targeting the same valuable customer. - Drives Growth: Leads to higher customer satisfaction, better retention, and increased revenue by attracting perfect-fit clients. - Differentiates from Buyer Personas: While related, ICPs focus on the company (firmographics), whereas buyer personas focus on the individuals within those companies (psychographics/roles).

@Heather Di Rocco So I'm currently completing the commercialization of a fire protection checklist. Actually, this idea was kicked off by one of the Appsheet build requests that I featured in my Upwork jobs thread. For the full ICP, I've attached the full document. So... The GoCrewIT Fire and Protection Compliance Checklist is built for fire protection service companies that are under increasing pressure to modernize inspection documentation, comply with AHJ digital reporting requirements, and strengthen long‑term client relationships. The ideal customer is not a startup and not a national enterprise. It is a regional, operationally mature company that still relies on spreadsheets, PDFs, or legacy tools for inspections and reporting—and is now feeling pain from compliance portals, admin overhead, and client expectations. Company Profile - Industry: Fire Protection Services, this includes: - - Fire sprinkler inspection & testing - - Fire alarm inspection & testing - - Fire extinguisher service - - Backflow testing (often adjacent) - Geography: Midwest (initial focus) - - Illinois (especially Chicagoland) - - Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa - Company Size: - - Annual Revenue: ~$1M–$15M - - Business Model: Recurring inspection contracts, Mix of service + compliance work Operational Reality - Inspectors perform work in the field - Office staff consolidates inspection results - Reports are finalized after the site visit - Heavy reliance on: - - Excel / Google Sheets - - Fillable PDFs - - Email + shared drives - Significant admin time spent on: - - Re‑entering data - - Fixing rejected reports - - Responding to client requests for documents

not quite! 🤣🤣 A stupid pet trick I learned along the way was how to legally mine Google My Business for prospects. So now I'm creating a prospect list based on my criteria. After that, I'll start making calls and sending emails. I'll probably lose 5 pounds for the bad nerves of calling prospects. They call it cold calling, but I sweat so much🤣
Be A Guest Speaker!
Seeking Guest Speakers / Community Owners (Early-Stage Collaboration) I’m looking for guest speakers or community owners interested in a simple, honest collaboration: • You host a short live session (30–45 min) teaching something practical • I promote the session inside my community • The session is recorded for reuse • Optional: I’m happy to guest speak in your community as a reciprocal exchange This is best suited for: • People who enjoy teaching • Community owners open to audience cross-pollination • Builders who value relationships over hype This is early-stage and intentionally small — no inflated promises. If that sounds aligned, comment or DM me.
