A bit more about myself
One thing I wanted to talk about is that not only do I consider myself an Athlete, an artist, but also a musician. I used to play piano, at one point I was able to play Beethoven's Moonlight sonata. I miss playing that thing so much, but I just kept letting the thoughts of "oh what will other people think" get in the way of me practicing. This was so even when my mom told me she didn't care if I would stumble. I was so insecure back then when I was in my mid teens. On a side note I just feel like young people are robbed of developing their personalities and interests because what everyone does is scroll on the phone. Right now i have a harmonica and know how to play piano man, poetic indeed. Also have a digital piano which I plan on using one of these days. Speaking of which I also wrote poetry and want to explore that again, I wrote some poems to some people they said they were amazing. Back to the music, I'm going to go to the community court yard and play it for a bit. My mom and her husband practice guitar, yet I keep making the same excuse. albeit me in the court yard is a way for me to get around it. When it comes to my mission to becoming a varsity athlete I'm doing much better. I can go out, and do what ever and don't care to much what other people think. I love walking in fact. It's a habit I have cultivated despite all the circumstances against me and it's one of the base routines I have that I am proud off and that makes me happy. I went to another part of Puerto Rico to help my mom take care of some problems with her property. I forgot to pack extra shoes and only brought sandals. I didn't care at first. I walked 30 minutes like I always do. But when I finished I noticed on my big toes they were a little scrapped from all the friction from the walk with the sandals. That was on Friday, I like to give myself a break on the weekends. So on Monday I said screw it and just walked bear foot for half an hour. It wasn't to bad at all tbh and I was glad I could still do the one habit that I have had for years despite the inconveniences.
Hey Jorge! I used to play piano too and even won a trophy for it. Have you heard of the language learning app Duolingo? I've been learning Spanish on there for like 7 years now and they have PIANO now too!!! (Chess too, I picked up last year) I was playing it daily on my phone and it was so much fun! Duolingo even came out with a keyboard you can connect to your phone to play it and yes, I bought it. My new phone is "out of pace" with the music so sadly I need to get a new cell phone to play it properly, but I was definitely enjoying it a lot! I love how courageous you are to come out here and be so vulnerable with all of us. I struggle with this immensely! I've noticed that when it's my turn to talk, I rush through a quick answer and that isn't giving anyone a chance to get to know me at all. So, I want to applaud your efforts for coming out here and expressing who you truly are. I can tell from what you wrote here and what you said earlier on the call that we have some similar struggles. I'm so sorry about you losing your dad, especially at such a young age. I lost mine in June and I'm still in denial about it. No one could replace my dad, so I get that. Also, saying "my mom's husband" is pretty clear that he's not your dad. I hope that one day I can express myself like you have. My journey this past 6 years has been incredibly difficult with the mold poisoning/autoimmune. I don't ever want to be a victim or sound like one, things have been challenging and I am doing my best, but I still make a lot of mistakes, especially when it comes to me working out. I keep doing more than my body can handle and I'm used to being able to do more. After watching my grandma and my dad wither and pass over these past 14 months, my main goal aside from learning is getting into peak shape so I can prevent or avoid falling apart in my later years. This is the most vocal and real I've been with anyone in a while. Right after our class call today, I had to race my nearly 20-year-old Persian cat to the vet, only to be told I have to put her down. I don't know how to be stoic with this information. She's my first pet and I had her for, well, it would've been 20 years this December, but I guess not. Thank you for reading this, and again, for sharing about who you are and what you're all about. You've got a friend in me.
@Jorge Gracia Thank you Jorge. I'm sitting here alone with my cat while she sleeps. You've really been through a lot and you're so young. I'm my experience, this means you're going to do something really important in this world. Seriously. I've been through it too. I don't talk about my life a lot because I don't want to be a victim or sound like one, but I won't lie, it's been challenging. I think we're fortunate to know what we know about ourselves and the world or these things would be that much harder. Thank you again for being willing to be so open.
