BOOK COVER
The goal wasn’t loud horror, but psychological tension through atmosphere, negative space, and restrained color use. Design direction: • Dark cinematic hallway • Single red accent palette • Condensed typography for claustrophobic tension • Film grain + smoke layering for unease • Minimal composition with subtle visual storytelling Feedback welcome. I’d love to hear: What detail catches your eye first? Does the cover create suspense for you? Would this make you stop scrolling on Amazon or Goodreads? https://www.fiverr.com/s/Eg8ovr7

@Rob Cole Duly noted and this wasn't done with AI, it's just sad that writers now typically assume everything is AI
A Line in the Sand
I have been editing and re-editing my late fiancée's biography off and on for the past 14 years. I'm getting the line edit back on Saturday. August 27, 2026 would have been her 75th birthday, so I am going to publish the book on that day. Happy birthday, Arlinda!

Have you had a cover designed for the the biography?

@Rob Cole Alright
Writers Often Don’t Need More Ideas. They Need More Structure. ✍️
As a ghostwriter and book editor, I’ve seen talented writers spend months rewriting the same chapters, second-guessing every sentence, or waiting for motivation to magically return. Finishing a book becomes much easier when the structure is clear, the message stays focused, each chapter has a purpose, and the writer stops trying to make every page perfect too early. ✍️ Even cover design works the same way. A strong cover isn’t random decoration. It’s intentional storytelling for the right audience. Books come together faster when every part of the process has clarity behind it. https://www.fiverr.com/s/6YBYN4b https://www.fiverr.com/s/6YBYN4b

Building an Index
Does anyone have recommendations for building an index for a biography? Are there tools or plugins to LibreOffice that make it easier to compile?

@Rob Cole I usually help authors build and clean index pages manually to ensure everything remains accurate and print-ready across formats. It takes more time upfront, but it prevents the exact kind of corruption and stripped entries you experienced

@Rob Cole alright, wouldn't have cost much though.
A Reminder for Every Writer in the Middle of a Draft ✍️
As a ghostwriter, I’ve worked on manuscripts that started as scattered notes, unfinished chapters, rough outlines, ideas the author almost abandoned. What usually makes the difference isn’t perfect writing from day one, It is consistency. Some of the strongest books are built slowly, one imperfect page at a time. The first draft is not meant to impress readers. It’s meant to exist. Editing shapes the message later. Momentum creates the manuscript first. So if your current draft feels messy, slow, or incomplete, you’re probably closer to progress than you think. Keep writing. 📚 https://www.fiverr.com/s/7Yeb3L4

That is the point. A lot of writers are chasing the “finished book feeling” before they’ve fully developed their own creative voice. I always advice writers that probably don't have time on their side to use a professional ghostwriter instead of turning to AI and coming out with the most generic content out there.
