Your social media SUCKS! (And it's not going to get any better...) Catch your attention? GOOD! That proves my next point. IF you want to stand out on social media, you have to capture attention. Now, it's time to let you off the hook. It's not your fault that your posts aren't getting attention. You have so much to compete with, like boobs, butts, and all the other "Feel Good" "Pleasure" content. Here's some insight that can help. If you scroll through your feed on any given day, you've DEFINITELY seen WAY more boobs & butts than real DEEP transformational content. Why is that? I can talk about the mysterious "ALGORITHM"... but even that boils down to ONE thing... What KEEPS people on a platform? (Because platforms make money by having people stick around.) Whatever catches attention, and what catches attention? PLEASURE. WHY? Because that's how the brain is wired. So how do you STAND OUT? USE something more important to the mind than pleasure... PAIN. The brain is wired to AVOID pain before it is wired to SEEK pleasure. AVOIDING PAIN keeps us alive. PLEASURE is what I call "PROCREATION MOTIVATION". So hitting the pain first catches people's attention, then you relieve some pain, then compassion, offer some guidance, then wrap it up with a CTA, usually something to build goodwill (NOT A SALE). Picture this: you're posting, scrolling, liking - doing all the things everyone says you should do on social media. But it's like you're invisible. You're content is drowning in the flood of perfect selfies, hilarious videos, and endless feel-good content, your posts just don't seem to matter. It's like you're yelling in a crowded room where everyone's too busy to listen.

You know, I am struck by how many people 'pitch' before they seek engagement. Is building relationships important? Do you forensically target who you reach out to and/or do you judge who you accept as a connection based on what you think they can do for you? Curious minds want to know. (There is no right answer... just what works for you. 😉) In my experience, I find that some people who I thought I had nothing in common with, were my greatest connectors to others who could change my entire trajectory. For instance, connecting with a financial adviser in the USA who then introduced me to a streaming network CEO who I am working with to produce my TV show. Never in a million years would I have imagined that! What about you? What connection or relationship stories do you have?
