Started my fast at 6:30 AM yesterday—not on purpose! After a fatty pork chop and our meetings, I headed to Apple Hill with friends. Apple Hill is basically a fall farm experience with ALL things sweet and baked. Our restaurant was closed, and when I got home—I’d already fasted 12 hours! Salt—I always carry it. I don’t care who sees me eat it…it makes for good conversation! 😂 I guess I’m weird. Not eating an apple fritter at Apple Hill is apparently weird too. And then there are the sardines. 🤷🏼♀️ Yep, it’s my new weird normal. But I feel better than I have in decades, and that’s a fabulous trade-off for me! I’m sharing all this to encourage you to stay strong. Getting through the healing while leaning on the Lord builds strength and character—character I never knew I needed. I know people who don’t eat sweets and don’t snack between meals. I never thought they were weird; I thought they were blessed with good decision-making! Once we settle in and accept that this is simply our normal, others will begin to see our healing—and maybe our “weird” won’t seem so weird after all. Maybe it will look intentional…and even inspiring. Romans 5:3–4 “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”
