This week was a real test for my U11 keeper Jonas and full of ups and downs. Being fastest runner in his class he was chosen to represent cross country running event. Monday was 800 m race of local schools and with good start he had a bad cramp in his leg and had to leave the race, as he said himself he came last, which we discussed with him was not last but rather an accident. Wednesday was huge race with few counties patricipating and between 250 and 300 children run at the same time in each race. Due to so many running altogether, he was pushed at some stage on the distance of 1000m and fell on stones on uneven grass field surface, a boy fell on him and another stepped on his back with spiked boots so he nearly got into ambulance on service at the race. He had to step down the race. Again. But on Friday in the league match he absolutly surprised me and everyone with fantastic and heroic double save , and more saves, jumping high at the goals in between the crowd of boys shouting Keeper , loud and so confident, making great distribution and assisting a goal with long distribution kick and directing his defence very effectively. Getting up quickly after conseded goal and cheering his team . He absolutly owned his goalkeeper position, his space and his word, and it was beautiful and confident performance That all made me think how All our experiences , good and bad shaping us into a strong and resilient people. He is learning to accept everything with grace and pride, as it is all your valuable experience.
