It’s a Journey
Just some thoughts and experiences in case it helps anybody else in the early stages of trading and the EA process. It’s a journey for sure.. use the process to grow and learn. Just some notes on my progress from the last 7 months… When I first started with my EA I was trying to find any way to jump into a trade, then when I got in just hoped it’d work out. I rationalized nearly any trade and then felt anxious when the trade was triggered. I felt like I needed to get through the EA quick so I could start rolling in the Benjamins 🙃 That was then, but my mindset and habits have changed… Now I make a strict plan and follow it. Based on the plan and how busy I am with my job, I may take 0 trades in an entire week and then there was also a day that I took 3 trades. The activity fluctuates, and that’s ok. I don’t try to force anything, but just follow the plan when the opportunity arises. I haven’t passed an EA yet, but feel confident that I will. And I know that it will only take 1 payout in the future to offset my investment. That’s worth being patient for and doing the right way. I will say, I was a little salty the last couple EA’s ($50k Tradovate accounts) because I failed with my account still over $50k. My account peaks in those were $52,600 and $52,800…. Heartbreaking losses for sure but I still learned from each of them!

I’m in a similar phase as you although I’m only 2 months in. I blew up 11 EA accounts before finding this group and shifting mindset. I’m still not there, obviously, but I’m trying to get a little better everyday at doing analysis and waiting for setups. I’m encouraged by others’ stories like this and in knowing that my challenges are not unique to myself. Thanks for posting.
Snatching Failure From the Jaws of Success
I did it again…. I can’t seem to stop screwing myself after I hit my daily profit target. This has been probably the 4th or 5th day that I’ve successfully hit my goal early in the day only to go back to it later in the day, take a bad trade and wipe it all out. While I’m encouraged that I’m able to see good setups and take enough good trades to “win the day” it’s extremely frustrating to then turn it around and make it a loser. I’ve told myself not to do it. I’ve practiced and failed at discipline. I continue to work on that skill, but does anyone have any suggestions or methods they use to avoid overtrading and wiping out profits? I’m not giving up….it’s a journey. I’m trying to see growth and progress daily. Thanks!!!

@Abbey Hare that’s what I’m going to try to do for now as I build that discipline through my journey. I know Kyle says not to set a cap on daily profits because it could lead to forcing things, but I’m going to do it for now to see if I can build better habits. Thanks for your advice!

Orders Rejected
Has anyone had orders rejected and then seen the explanation "Liquidation only, contract is about to be expired." My only guess is that it's because I'm choosing the September 2025 version of the mini (ESU5, for example). Does anyone know for sure?

Had the same issue this morning. Switched to December contracts and problem fixed.
Apex eval account advice
Hey guys so I keep getting this message on my eval account. Is that what happens when you have exceeded your drawdown limit? My 50,000 account current p/l -996. What notification do you get to know your account is failed?

If you blow the account, it will cancel all orders and you cannot place any more. Eventually, they will remove the account from your login until you renew it or buy another one.

@Rochelle ClaytoN I have not gotten specific notifications. It just shuts down. I’ve blown 10 accounts so far, so I know! Lol

Sign up for Apex and then use the login they give you to login with Tradovate. Also make sure you signed up for the Tradovate account if that’s the platform you want to use.
