There is always something new to learn...
A few months ago, I wouldn't have been able to do what I'm doing today. One of the biggest leaps on my YouTube journey came when I finally figured out how to record audio that felt good enough. I say "good enough" because there is always room to improve. Better equipment, better techniques, and another lesson waiting around the corner. Today's lesson? I discovered two little boxes in YouTube Studio that I'd never unticked before. No, YouTube... I don't want you to "enhance" my audio or video. 😄 I spend hours in GarageBand shaping the sound of every instrument so the drum, didgeridoo, rattles, and rainstick blend exactly the way I intend. Finding those settings was a little frustrating, but also strangely satisfying. I'm looking forward to hearing the difference in my next upload. At the moment, I'm recording with a TASCAM Portacapture X8. It captures the drum, rattles, rainstick, and the rest of my instruments beautifully. I'm also using one of its XLR inputs with a dedicated vocal microphone just for the didgeridoo, which gives me much more control during editing. I'm curious... Are you recording music too? What setup do you use?

well I posted a few videos on my FB page but the sound quality is terrible with my budget cell phone. My old cell phone had decent sound but I dont remember the password. It seems like the sound quality goes down even further when I post them on FB. I think FB is compressing the file or something like that
Sound Healing
What comes to mind when you hear those words? I'm curious where people stand on this. Have you experienced it? Do you believe it can have an effect?

I used to play a flute at my friend's sound healing. He had a small crowd, 10-15 people, attending for a while but he kept raising the price and now he is lucky if he gets anybody. He has a good voice but he cant play any instrument that requires skill.

The Sounding Healing ? When I joined him he was charging $20 or $25 and he gradually worked his way up to $40. His logic is the more it cost the better people will think it is. Well the results are he gets far less people now.

Crafting our own Instruments
Today is crafting day. I made my first couple of frame drums last month and love the process. My wife and I are making some rattles with the left over hide. Our son is sleeping next to us. Life is good. Have you ever tried making your own instruments or would you like to learn? Let me know in the comments.

Hi Dave, I was importing djembe shells and mounting the skins. The Trump tariffs are a problem now. I would be interesting in learning how to make a frame drum.

I have a bunch of goat skins but they are all on the thin side. How thick of a skin do you usually use ?
