I Ditched My $200/Month AI Tool for This $20 Research Beast (Best Decision Ever!) 🤯🔥
(Okay, that's kinda a "clickbait" title, but I'm not trying to sell you anything, just getting your attention! 😆) I thought I'd discuss Perplexity & Comet Browser that's been brought up in here recently! So, I know we recently discussed Perplexity and its Comet browser, whether anyone is using it, etc. Well, as you may have heard me whining about over the past couple of months, my longtime multi-LLM/multi modal AI platform glitched for a month in the summer, with crickets from customer support and no explanations, just the silent treatment. Well, it's been working again for the last month or two, but I already cancelled it, the subscription sunsets in about a month. Anyway, during that blackout period, to get the workflow moving again, I started finding work-arounds. I leaned hard on Microsoft's Copilot - very handy, built into Windows, MS Office, Edge Browser etc. Only at the free tier, well, it's not the most extremely stable, but it's pretty durn good with powerful AI (even GPT-5 available) for "chats" and many productivity tasks. To a lesser extent, I've also used Gemini's free-tier, still Gemini 2.5, and NotebookLM a bunch, and you may have noticed how Google really came out swinging in the 2nd/3rd quarter this year. Crazy the capability at the free tier. Well, I just signed up for Perplexity. I've been wanting to try it for a long time because it's know for its research-centric, and good sourcing (references). It does appear to have a ton of utility built in, it does seem to make a solid reference list for queries (gonna be nice for research), and - of course - it's "agentic" to some degree, you can connect it to outlook/gmail calendars, and a bunch of other apps so that it apparently can check your calendar, add things to the calendar, check and respond to emails, etc. One thing I've loved about the other platform I've been using, besides all the custom tools and prompts, was that documents could be uploaded (Kinda like NotebookLM - but sources are "trapped" in notebooks here, and only available inside the notebook they've been added to). In my (ex)fav AI Extension, uploaded docs, pics, pasted text, links, could be organized in folders and always available in any chat - so handy.

@Josette Williams Nice, and my entire GPT is (probably) powered by GPT (a large section of the information was generated by Perplexity itself AND I think it uses ChatGPT! 😆). But I'm always happy to know that the info was found useful by somebody! Yeah, as I suspected (and likely shouldn't be a surprise, I guess), Comet is Chromium-based (so, basically Chrome! LOL), it immediately imported bookmarks and extensions from my Chrome browser (which is either very convenient or very annoying! LOL). But, everybody uses Chromium because it's open-source, but it's also a very-well implemented and modern browser to begin with. In Perplexity's implementation, it's zippy and slick in the way of Chromium, but also ready to rock with all of Perplexity's useful goodness and power at your fingertips. I believe it will turn out to be a great experience that gets better as we use it (into the near-future, at least) 😆)!
Perplexity's Comet AI Browser?!?
Hey Creators, Has anyone tried Perplexity's Comet AI Browser? I don't use Perplexity all that much if ever even with a free year of Pro I was granted. It's just not the AI tool for me for what I need and use AI for. I've compared its results against several others and it just wasn't as good. I think that one is more for research sort of tasks and not creativity...unless it's changed. I haven't been in there in almost a year. But now I have an invitation to try the new Comet for free. I haven't even tried the GPT version of that yet. So, I'm wondering if anyone has and what you think of it. Perhaps over the weekend I'll go down the rabbit hole. Your thoughts?

I haven't tried it yet, but I've been eager to. I have the Perplexity app on my phone, though I don't use it often, so I don't have a solid opinion on it. Perplexity is touted as the “expert” research AI, which is intriguing! Interestingly, I've heard that Perplexity is attempting to acquire the Chrome browser from Google, likely due to potential antitrust actions against Google. I tend to forget about things I plan to try, so I won't hold my breath. However, if you do try it and have an invitation link to share, count me in! 😆 It's worth noting that the Chromium browser is open source, and I suspect Comet is built on it, as many modern browsers, like Microsoft's Edge, are. I'm also becoming more interested in developing my own research and AI tools as I learn what makes them work. If I manage to create some custom open-source projects or participate in a beta test, I'll definitely share them with fellow AI enthusiasts! !

Marketing Posters: Which one to choose?
Hey Creators, I'm speaking (as a panelist) at an AI Business marketing conference next week and they have asked use to put together an offer for their VIP participants. I decided to offer a private 1:1 consultation. I need a graphic for them to put up as the image that will go with the link so I decided to use my new fav AI biz marketing tool because it generates the best posters and marketing images with very consistent character images. Their trainor is one of the best I've seen so far. I like both of these. Which is your favorite? Here's the link in case you want to check them out: https://bit.ly/DesignYourHeroToday

@Josette Williams and I was thinking something about the way she’s holding the sign with the CTA... there’s something about it that makes it like a friendly offering or something! 😁
Redid one of my ebooks for the webinar later this week!
Hey Creators, I used New Hero and Gamma to update one of the ebooks I created. I used New Hero for the images because it has a character trainor and instead of using stock images of say a woman meeting with clients, I decided why not I put images of myself meeting with clients instead of using "stock" photos? So, I updated all the images to show my face. After doing so I was like this is the first time I see my face all over a product! I think I pulled an "Oprah"! But since I'm talking about AI I think it works. I mean, why show random women doing what I do...building, coaching, teaching, consulting, mentoring... instead of showing myself? Let's see how it goes over. But I think it came out so much nicer but I did put 6 hours into it just updating the images. I' very picky about all the images I use. Didn't change any of the text or layout except for maybe on two pages out of the 40+ pages. But I tend to be a perfectionist that's why I spent 6 hours. It was probably okay at hour 2! LOL

How about OprAI... she recommends a lot of books (and they all just happen to be yours)! 😆
Happy Monday! And Pickaxe New Feature & Prices!
Hey Creators, I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was semi-relaxing. I didn't get too much into AI this past weekend as I needed a break. Working on AI 7 days a week can get exhausting. So, some updates...by now you know I build on Pickaxe and well, if you haven't signed up and taken advantage of the discount pricing before now, it's too late...they have increased the prices for all tiers; however, there is still a free tier to test it out. Also, they are adding new features and now some type of agency. There's an in person meet-and-greet at their San Francisco headquarters in October so I will drive down to the city to be a part of it and meet the team that's making AI magic happen in person. At least that's the plan as of today. It's on October 6 so who knows what will happen in 2 short weeks. I have to take things week by week these days. Have a great week ahead.
Happy Monday! And Pickaxe New Feature & Prices!

@Kylie Macrokanis Makes sense to use the affiliate link from whoever taught us this - supporting each other here matters, especially our host who gives us access to this community at such a steal!

@Kylie Macrokanis Understandable, it'll be good to get it clarified (it seems we should be able to access current specials through an affiliate ling - well, that would make sense to me anyway! 😆).
