💰 Help Me to Help You!
my MAIN goal for everyone in this community is go through Hackathon lessons and - launch a free/freemium community - grow it to 100+ members - become ready to monetize i am personally interested in you reaching this goal because: - i love helping ppl (and i see too many stuck at this stage) - once you reach that goal, you are ready to join my paid community - Community Income Mastermind (this is how i plan to make money on Skool) - i want this group to grow and your success = this group's growth and success so, very SELFISHLY, i want as many of you as possible to GRADUATE - finish the Hackathon: launch and grow your Skool community to 100 members. everything i do is to help reach this goal: for you, for me, for us. i introduced bunch of free live events for July. so far pretty unsuccessful - just one person showed up: shout out to @Carin Chantel and our fun conversations. keep in mind that she is a member of my paid community as well. now, there might be many reasons for that. but i have zero patience and desire to continue things that do not work. so i need your help on how to help you best. please answer below + comment below, what would be MOST helpful for me to do to heal you & me to reach your goals ⬇️

I spend so many hours of my workday in online meetings I just don’t have the capacity for more. I find async content is easier for me to process as I tend to tune out on calls.

@Des Dreckett or for those of us with full-time jobs outside of Skool, the demands of that + other obligations. I choose live events very carefully based on topic, my schedule, and my energy. Async works well because I can attend when I’m available and video is not my preferred method of learning. I prefer to read - so much easier to make notes and get to the heart of the matter.
🎥 Skool News. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
full recording is in the Vault, as all previous news issues for your convenience. let's start with the good, shall we? being on Skool really helps make admin/accounting part easy. Skool folks reminded us, and it's totally true. being a Merchant of Record, they are taking a huge burden off your shoulders. you can research what "MoR" means - here is Stripe's version of it. either way, it helps. and the bigger you grow, the bigger is the benefit. more good things: "free trial locked content" and "freemium plans on sign-up" are coming up. two thumbs up. great features - hopefully, will help facilitate conversions from free to paid. now, the bad 😈 kinda tired of hearing about those who are making it. would be great to learn the full picture - charts, graphs, numbers. or maybe look at someone who is struggling and how they can do better. "Skool of the week" and all other outliers are not gonna help me, you, and the other block to improve. actually, i & some of my friends on Skool are seeing the trend of ppl turning their community PAID because of the Skool news. and the only thing they are gonna get is DISAPPOINTMENT. cause unless you have a massive audience outside Skool, starting a paid community is not gonna work. well, now the ugly 👿 new Skool games. it's gonna be an ongoing MRR competition. that's it. they've introduced new level - ☘️ $3k/mo. good. but overall, they still focus on MRR as the one and only truth in business. okay. got it. and then, you can only get to the "exclusives" club if you get $100k+ MRR. let me ask you - what percentage of community owners are going to get $100k+ MRR? let me answer - very small percentage. probably less than 1%. so, the reality is - forget it. forget about Skool games. work toward your goal, your strategy, and your plan. everything else is just the noise. p.s. no doubt, my next goal is to hit $10k/m. but i do not expect it to be just MRR and/or just from one community. but now, more than ever, the 🚀 emoji is less attractive to me.

Excellent summary and I’m feeling the same about Skool games. The platform seems more and more like a Multilevel marketing structure. Like you, my focus is growing my community. What are your thoughts about publicly sharing MRR?

@Lidia Axe I agree if you only focus on MRR you don’t have a balanced business.
How to start PAID community right away? CASE STUDY
when ppl ask me, i often say - you can't. i cannot help you start paid community right away. but it's not true. you can. here is how: - very narrow niche, super-duper narrow - huge, and i mean, HUGE personal brand and/or following on any of the social media platforms and/or email list here is the example: Gert Leroy, the founder of Underwater Squad, 3rd place in Skool Games this quarter 🏆 - his niche - Train freediver breathing from home. SUPER-DUPER niche, right? right! - YouTube channel - 1.57 Million subs. A LOT!!! not impressed with recent views, makes me wonder.. but we leave it there (happy to discuss) - Insta - 55.9k. not bad. reels are doing great. so, just like i said. you can go paid, right away. free trial is still on. what do you think? ⬇️ ps do you want more case studies like this? ⬇️

No wonder they are shutting down Skool Games...
well, kinda. in the last Skool news, they said, they are changing it. so, not really closing. but... i have always been skeptical about Games and even about Leaderboard/Gamification, in general. i always say "be clear what you are trying to achieve". here are the things i would NEVER do in this or any other of my groups: - ask for engagement for the sake of engagement (for my star badge or discovery rank) - ask people to buy from me because i need to win the games or smth - in general, do things that benefit me/community, but not my ppl or ppl in their communities i hope you know my formula for any activity i organize: WIN-WIN-WIN - i win - you win - your ppl win that just makes every decision so much easier for me. and i don't get distracted by any "game" that is introduced. hence, i was not surprised to hear Eva Raposa's talk (founder of Focused Founders) about winning Skool games and the truth that nobody tells (the video should start at 1:17:15 for her talk). now think about all the ppl who did not win: pretty harsh "hangover", i suppose. ps great Skoolx Public Speaking Competition. missed it last time. for sure will try to get to the next round, cause TedEx speech is on my wish list.

Well said and I’m in complete agreement. What I have seen as a community owner, member, and gamification strategist is the “worst” elements or easiest low hanging fruit elements (points, badges, leaderboards) slapped on and called gamification. My question all along has been what do the Skool games provide me as a member. I feel like I’m in the middle of a dungeon crawl with Carl and Donut but instead of the AI saying, “Now Get Out There and Kill, kill, kill” its owners saying, “Now Get Out There and buy, buy, buy.” PS: for reference see Dungeon Crawler Carl book series.
