3 contributions to Learn Mandarin by Speaking It!
News
According to official announcements and media reports, Alex Honnold is set to free-solo Taipei 101 — over 500 meters high — with no ropes and no harness, as part of Netflix’s Skyscraper Live. Taipei 101 wasn’t built for climbing — it’s mostly glass, steel, and concrete, with tiny edges and overhangs between sections. This is now considered the tallest free-solo building climb in history. 😵‍💫 So I’m curious — what’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

@Yu-Tzu Huang I saw that. After reading about it from you, I got curious.
What's your favorite Chinese food? 🍜
For me, rice is my favorite… or maybe I should say my daily staple! Lately, I’ve been having fun making Chinese-style rice balls filled with fried dough sticks, pork floss, half a braised egg, and preserved radish—so delicious! 😋 I also recently learned that some Jewish people like to eat Chinese food on Christmas Eve—isn’t that so intriguing? 😲 - What’s your favorite Chinese dish? - Do you cook it yourself, or do you prefer ordering it? - Any interesting food traditions you know? 📢 Let’s share and inspire each other!

While we are not Jewish, our family tradition is to order Chinese food for dinner on Christmas. I am not familiar with Xiao Long Bao. I tend to either order or buy the frozen or fresh dumplings from the international grocer.

@Yu-Tzu Huang thanks for the explanation.
你好 👋 I'm Jack
I am from United States, and I'm building community on Skool focused on connection, art, and self-actualization Something surprising you wouldn't know about me? hmm, I can't tell you yet. It has to be a surprise. I was interested in this group because Mandarin is a language I have been interested in learning more of. I am a NOOB, but at least I can learn bit by bit. Just being around the language learners to slowly learn some very basic parts of the language is enough for me to start 😊 I feel that languages are deeply meaningful because they are the way we literally transfer and communicate energy. So learning Mandarin is not just a technical process, but a deeper exploration into philosophy, culture and universal patterns. ✨ What draws you into learning Mandarin?

@Yu-Tzu Huang thank you. I’ve been casually learning for a few months but not focused. My goal this year is to reach functional conversation levels. I’ll start recording soon.
