Book to Read
Good Morning. Looking for Book recommendations to add to my collection. I'm currently reading 90 minutes in Heaven by Don Piper and it's so hard to put down. Who is your Favorite Author or what book do you think I just MUST read?
@Theresa Jenkins That is a great book right there! Have you read the story behind the song “Silent Night”? That is a great story as well.
🌟 Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts
🌟 Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts God has uniquely equipped every believer with spiritual gifts—tools meant to serve, strengthen, and build the Body of Christ. These gifts look different for everyone, and you often discover them by stepping out and serving. Pay attention to what feels natural, what brings joy, and where you see spiritual fruit. Your gifts aren’t meant for spotlight—they’re meant for impact. As you use them, God grows them. What gifts do you sense God developing in you right now?
I believe GOD wants me to be an active listener and a calming presence in the lives of others. To be a vessel of healing and a voice of reason. He has blessed me with a soothing singing voice and has taught me to use this blessing to help spread his words and praise Him. These are the things I cherish in my life. Especially being there to help others.
🎄 Global Christian Christmas Traditions
Christmas is celebrated around the world in beautiful and meaningful ways. While the core message remains the same—celebrating the birth of Jesus—each culture expresses that joy uniquely. Exploring these traditions helps us appreciate the global family of believers and the creativity of worship across nations. 🇵🇭 Philippines: Simbang Gabi & Parols Filipino Christians attend nine dawn masses leading up to Christmas, expressing devotion and anticipation. Colorful parols (star lanterns) symbolize the star of Bethlehem and the hope Christ brings. 🇲🇽 Mexico: Las Posadas Mexican families reenact Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. For nine nights, processions, prayers, and songs remind communities of the Holy Family’s perseverance and faith. 🇳🇬 Nigeria: Christmas Masquerades & Feasts Churches overflow with celebration as families gather for worship, music, dancing, and large community meals. Many wear bright, festive clothing to honor the joy of Christ’s birth. 🇩🇪 Germany: Advent Traditions Advent calendars and wreaths originated in Germany. Lighting candles weekly symbolizes expectation and preparation for the coming of Jesus. 🇺🇬 Uganda: Christmas as a Homecoming Many Ugandans travel back to their villages to celebrate with extended family. Church services, choirs, and shared meals highlight unity, joy, and gratitude. 🇺🇸 United States: Candlelight Services Many churches hold Christmas Eve candlelight gatherings, reflecting Jesus as the Light of the World. Scripture readings and hymns create a peaceful, worship-filled atmosphere. Which Christmas tradition from around the world resonates with you most? Does your family have a unique tradition that reflects your faith?
On Christmas Eve we make tamales and take naps to go to midnight mass. Traditions are the best. We also pick one person to make a new ornament to place on the tree Christmas Day.
✨ Angels in the Christmas Story
When we read the Christmas story, angels appear at key moments—reminding us that God is deeply involved in human history and in our everyday lives. Their presence shows that the birth of Jesus was not just a quiet event on earth, but a celebration in heaven. 🌟 1. Gabriel’s Message to Mary (Luke 1:26–38) The angel Gabriel announces the impossible: a virgin will give birth to the Son of God. This moment reminds us that God often interrupts our lives with purpose beyond what we can imagine. Angels deliver messages that shift destinies. 🌟 2. Joseph’s Encounter in a Dream (Matthew 1:20–21) Joseph is ready to walk away quietly—until an angel appears in a dream, bringing clarity, courage, and instruction. God uses angels to guide us when we feel confused or afraid. 🌟 3. Angels Proclaim the Good News to Shepherds (Luke 2:8–14) A heavenly host fills the sky announcing Jesus’ birth with joy. The message was given to ordinary shepherds, reminding us that God reveals Himself to the humble and the overlooked. 🌟 4. Angels Warn Joseph Again (Matthew 2:13) After Jesus is born, an angel warns Joseph to flee to Egypt to protect the child. Angels don’t just deliver blessings—they also bring warnings and direction for protection. Which angelic moment in the Christmas story speaks to you most? Where in your life has God given guidance, encouragement, or protection in unexpected ways?
Angels are always sent by GOD in our times of need. Like when An Angel told Joseph to pack Mary and him up and leave Nazareth and they fleed to Bethlehem. As a young child my dad was in the Navy. We lived in Japan. This particular day we were out visiting. My sister and I were playing we they children there at the gathering. I fell in what they called a benjo ditch. I could not have been more than 4 years old, the water was running fast and I was being swept out to ocean which is the last place the water came out. Two beautiful angels came to me and told me not to be afraid that someone was coming to help. I remember staying calm and not being afraid. They stayed with me until my dads big hands caught me right before I went out to sea.
