Share your wins this week!
It’s that time of the week again. I thought I had posted this but just realised it was a week ago that i posted the wins post. So I’d love for you to share what your wins are this week, big or small. My wins - I had a great time in Fiji. Learnt a lot from the mastermind retreat. I’m going to put some notes together and if you’re interested I’ll be happy to share any of the relevant notes. My Tails of Canberra vol 2 book is printed and published. It’s also now up on Amazon and Booktopia. You can order it on Amazon here. Share your wins below!

She is not officially booked in yet, but I had the call with the enquiry I told you of. I think it went well, before I could say much, she said she has a canvas she loves, that she spent $1.8k and that she would spend "thousands and thousands more for the perfect one of the dogs together" she is not going for the Regal Paw just yet so just the standard for now. She seems very keen🤞🤞 So annoying, I sent booking link but she cant find it, because she asked to resend the email and I did, I didn't want to press too much so I'm giving it a few hours before I ask again if she needs me to send by text

@Ina Jalil Yeah I told her during the call a few times so she knows that - this was the last convo and I didn't know if I would be pushing it if I asked how she went with it 😅
form info questions
I used to do floral sessions, charged $295 for them (much higher than regular sessions) I found them to be my worst earning sessions, despite all the info I provide before booking and after, people still act shocked. I believe this to be because I opened booking slots to the public, and so they book without reading and just agreeing to everything so they don’t miss out and get a spot, for the novelty of it. This year I’m doing it differently, hoping to release a form so people can register their interest - limiting the sessions to 4 standard sessions ($195), 2 exclusive ones (around the $4k range) in a large package with special privileges. After form is submitted they will receive welcome email, etc. but my question is: what questions should I ask in the form - I want to keep it simple but also want to know how much info to give in the first impression. Would love to know what others do for competitions, contests, book project forms, etc. So far, my qualifying question for the form is : “These sessions are a fine art experience focused on creating printed artwork, with most clients investing between $1200 - $2,000 on their final artwork. Does this feel aligned with what you’re looking for?” Any suggestions welcome and appreciated - even for the emails that should be sent after and how much initial info to provide 💛

@Ina Jalil Thank you, that script would be super helpful! Past sessions I have just sent a personal email, saying how excited I am for the session, etc and how I sent info and to please confirm they got it, then they receive a few emails to educate. For these lavenders I set up two automatic emails that talk about the sessions and how to book. I'm currently preparing a bunch of nurture emails that will be spaced through the next few days with FAQs etc for those that don't book and those who do. Do you give them the option to get out of the call? I will do what is needed to succeed, but because I hate calls, I worry my clients will too :( First Lavender email: https://preview.mailerlite.io/preview/1974040/emails/173473136065382387 Second: https://preview.mailerlite.io/preview/1974040/emails/173473864854012988

@Ina Jalil that sounds great, I will get to doing that - do you ask them in text what would be a good time to call or do you just do it when they are likely to be home from work (6ish pm?)
Take home materials for events
I'd like to print some takeaways for upcoming events. Does anyone do a 7x5 postcard style handout? I was thinking about creating a trifold but feel a little overwhelmed trying to design it (the events are this week/weekend and I'm an overthinking when it comes to design :) I think a postcard style handout is my best bet. I'd love to see examples if anyone has gone this route.

I’m not an expert but I have made a trifold template I’m so far happy with - you are welcome to copy if you like it. Maybe it’s a mess I don’t know but I like it 😂
FLODESK alternatives
Hi everyone, this may have already been discussed but I would love to know what everyone uses and how they found using it. Flodesk is just out of budget for me for the moment at $53-$58AUD. I found some alternatives are only a $10 AUD difference with Flodesk 😅

@Stacey Sherman I'm currently trying Mailerlite free option, I have not compared to Brevo yet but I like ML so far, very similar to flodesk for what I need so far at least for template design :)

@Stacey Sherman me neither, wish I had tried them out sooner! So much money wasted with flodesk as I didn’t use it much and then it doubled on cost - I was scared any other service would be like mailchimp which I really didn’t like
Editing and composition help pleaseeee!
Hey guys. The tree photo is how I’ve been typically shooting my sessions for the past year. And the Doberman is one I did recently and that’s how I want to start editing more. In my sessions I want to start including some photos where it’s not really about the background as such.. more about the dog and a good bokeh/blur. I was wondering if anyone had any photos like that for inspo? I do love the photos where most of the image is bokeh/blurred and just the subject is in focus.. maybe in some grass.. a lavender field.. a tree stump etc. I recently bought the Sony 85mm 1.8. But I am on a cropped sensor and thinking of upgrading to the a7ii for full frame. I hope I’m making sense? Feel free to post inspo below I’d love to see and have some ideas and lens options xoxo

@Paula Rogerson Thank you! I still overthink it 🤣 A tip is to not over edit too much for the gallery before they purchase, I have been uploading the jpgs from pc to iPad, then quickly editing on Lightroom iPad, and copying and pasting on all jpgs. I used to waste so much time editing the pics on the computer so they are perfect and then the client may not even buy anything so you just wasted all the time 😅
