signing carriers
hello everyone, what is your story of signing your first carrier. Mine was working as a driver for a small fleet and then pitching the dispatching idea to the owner.

What is something you wish you knew when you first got started dispatching that you know now?

I wish I focused more on building relationships with brokers. This can be done by excellent service, providing updates, and making their life easier. This can result in them reaching out to YOU first when they have loads available.
How to deal with brokers and truckers if you never been on trucking business before?
Brokers and drivers will blame your inexperience with you for not being on trucking before start dispatching

Don’t mention it to them unless brought up. Also if you provide an excellent service they won’t even care.
BIGGEST MISTAKE
What’s the most expensive mistake you made early on dispatching—and what did it teach you?

My biggest mistake was not staying organized. This caused me to not be able to answer questions quickly which is an important thing in this industry
COLD CALLING QUESTION
Im just getting started with this course and im seeing that most people see success through paid media but has anyone scaled from cold calling to eventually paid ads? any tips?

I think cold calling and leveraging any connections is the best way to start. Then once you are ready to scale paid ads can be good. Also providing excellent service can lead to word of mouth.

Previous box truck only dispatcher. Looking to gain more knowledge and start dispatching a larger variety of units.
