This question is for the people who are already dispatching full time: how did you manage to do the transition? It seems impossible because how would I manage my first truck if I'm at the office when I need to make the calls and dispatch? Should I quit my job before trying to open a dispatching business?

I'm sitting here going through jog boards searching for dispatching jobs. One listing describes the duties as everything that an independent dispatcher would do for their own business but instead you would do it for a broker to help build their business. Would you work for a broker, or do you prefer to work for yourself, and why?

Brokers and drivers will blame your inexperience with you for not being on trucking before start dispatching

I know that there is a lot of drivers that are immigrants, most of them have poor to intermediate english proficiency. I can speak, apart from english, portuguese and spanish. My question to the bilingual dispatchers: does speaking another language helps on your day-to-day with drivers? Do you find it easier to sign with drivers that didn’t born in US? I believe so.. I’m not saying that the folks here should seek learning another language, but if you know another language, you have leverage on the driver seeking market.
