I Didn’t Realise Food Controlled Me
One of the biggest changes for me on Mounjaro had nothing to do with the scales. It was the mental side. I genuinely thought constantly thinking about food was normal. Planning meals all day. Thinking about snacks. Looking forward to takeaways more than the actual event itself. Going somewhere and immediately thinking about what food would be there. I didn’t realise how much space it was taking up in my head until it suddenly wasn’t anymore. That’s why I always say Mounjaro doesn’t just change your body. It changes your relationship with food. I still enjoy meals. I still eat out. I still enjoy weekends. But food no longer dominates my thoughts from morning to night. For me that has been the most life changing part of this whole journey. Curious if others here noticed the same thing? What was the first moment you realised your relationship with food had changed?

The Comments No One Talks About
Let’s talk about the weird obsession people have with tearing down anyone on Mounjaro… and the people quietly putting up with it. If you’re on Mounjaro, you’ve heard it. That’s cheating. You’ll gain it all back. Just eat less and move more. You’re taking the easy way out. Some of it comes from strangers. Some of it comes from people close to you. That’s the part that hits different. I want to hear it properly. What’s the worst comment you’ve had? And did you say anything back or just leave it? And for anyone saying this stuff, be honest for a second. What’s actually behind it. Is it frustration because you’ve been trying for years and nothing’s worked. Is it pride because you went through it the hard way and think everyone else should as well. Or is it just discomfort watching someone else change while you’re still stuck. Because the reality is this. Nobody on Mounjaro is skipping the work. They’re still turning up. Still training. Still trying to undo years of habits that didn’t happen overnight. The difference is they finally have something that helps them stay consistent. If you’re on it, you don’t owe anyone an explanation.

@Michelle Cooke Please no pay no attention to these people. I know it can be difficult. But what you have has meant you will live a healthier and longer life 🙌🏻
Mounjaro - The part people don't see
Most people outside this space only see the weight coming off. They think that’s the whole story. But if you’re on Mounjaro, you know it goes way deeper than that. You start moving more without forcing it because your energy is there. Your mood settles. You’re not constantly up and down depending on food or guilt. Sleep improves and you’re not dragging yourself through the day. Your motivation comes back. You start thinking about where you’re going instead of just getting through the day. And the biggest one… your head gets quieter. Food isn’t on your mind all day. That’s the part people don’t see. Curious… which one of these have you noticed the most?

@Samantha Torres But it's where it leads as a result of the weight loss and then staying there. You just need to give it time.
The Changes Start Before The Weight Loss
People think Mounjaro changes your body first. I don’t think it does. I think it changes your behaviour first and the body transformation comes after. The weight loss is obvious so that’s what everyone notices. But long before the big physical changes happen, smaller things start changing in the background. You stop finishing food just because it’s there. You stop planning your day around your next meal. You stop thinking about snacks constantly. You walk past things in shops that used to call your name. You start making better choices without feeling like you’re fighting yourself every second. That’s the part people who have never experienced Mounjaro don’t fully understand. Most people trying to lose weight aren’t battling information. They already know what foods are healthier. They’re battling hunger, cravings, food noise, impulse eating and a brain that never seems to switch off. Then suddenly for the first time in years, things feel quieter. And once your behaviour changes consistently, your body starts following. That’s why so many people say this feels different from every diet they’ve ever tried before. Because it is.

Week 3-4 update
Hi everyone, I had a great week food wise, hitting my protein goal of 120-140kg per day, which I'm finding is naturally keeping me circa 1500cals. It's definitely been a tougher week appetite wise, it's been much lower, so I've had to push harder to get enough protein in. I also found that the food noise has come back a little towards the end of the week when I was due pen #4. It coincided with the arrival of my period so that could be playing a role in craving chocolate. I allowed myself to have some, I just tracked it into my daily calories and in fact the amount I had weighted out and calorie counted for was far kore than I could eat/wanted to eat. Like Mark mentioned recently I just had an off switch, I was 100% satisfied with the lesser amount, less than a third of what I had allowed myself. It's amazing! This week I weighed myself halfway through the week (Tuesday)and was on for 0.4kg drop, but then period arrived the day before weigh day and by Friday morning (and repeated this morning) I clocked in at the exact same weight as the week before....so I went back up those 0.4kg. my diet remained stable though, my macros and calories were good, so I am trusting the process and I know that it's not a true gain, it's a hormonal fluctuation. So I've done my final 0.25mg starter jab and can't wait to move on up to the next titration dose of 0.5mg on Friday! 2.6kg down so far, I'll take it!!! Especially as it's been not effortless, but simple to achieve if you get me?

Laura this is exactly how you want it to look. You’ve basically ticked every box there. Protein dialled in, calories consistent, awareness around your cycle, and you didn’t let the scale mess with your head. That’s the difference. That “off switch” moment you described is the big one. You planned for chocolate, tracked it, and still didn’t need what you thought you would. That’s a completely different relationship with food starting to form. The appetite dip and slight return of food noise towards the end of the week is very common, especially coming up to the next dose and around your period. You handled it properly instead of reacting to it. And the scale going back up right before or during your period is textbook. That’s water retention, not fat gain. You already know that, which is why you didn’t panic and change anything. 2.6kg down in a few weeks while keeping everything steady is solid progress. More importantly, you’ve built a structure that’s repeatable. Moving up to 0.5mg will likely smooth out some of that end of week hunger as well. Just keep doing exactly what you’re doing. Mark
