First 4 chapters of Augustine
Great class yesterday Sean. There’s so much in Augustine. It gave me insight into my students and myself through the years. Thank you. I’m glad our class is making you enjoy it even more. You’re a good guide. Mark
In praise of learning the Republic
Sean, Thank you for guiding us through the Republic. I am blown away on how real and relevant this book is. Your facilitation of our group and learning is excellent. Mark
Theology book and musing on finite to infinite
The books are “A History of Christian thought” by Justo L Gonzales, it’s in 3 volumes. A good primer on thought in a historical easy read. The finite life and infinite life question is one I’ve heard before. The philosopher Kierkegaard talks a lot about how finite and infinite relate. It’s deep to think that our finite choices have eternal and infinite consequences and some sense finality. The book by Kierkegaard is “sickness unto death”. I love our class. Mark

I’m in the course. Which book editions will we use? I have Dorothy Sayers Divine Comedy. I feel the threat to the West and I do believe learning our best works will help us. I teach at a classical school and struggle on how to read long books, with little time and how to abstract the transformational lessons for me and my students. I know Sean can help in this regard. It’s exciting to get into a cohort of depth and not a mere lecture. Mark Armstrong from Abilene Texas.

@Sean Berube I have the Esolen versions. He is a true classical educator. Good notes that are richer than Sayers. FJ Sheen is a version I have of Augustine. I have the Reeves of the Republic. Thank you for responding. I’m humbled to learn with you. Mark
