UPDATED Information! Re: 11/2/2026 - I need to run this! Who is available? Working on a story for this occasion. Here is what I have learned so far: The Sidewalk Showers project is specifically geared for the homeless population in our area. At this time, the population includes 5 to 8 veterans. The sponsoring organization, Altrusa, has never done this before, so they have no idea what to plan for or expect. I was told to plan on 10 to 15 minutes. My plan: I posted a PDF with my personal story. I completed a discovery call and was on track with the message I wrote here. I am going to add more about what Veteran's Day means, in honoring our veterans. I was able to talk to her about regarding the set-up, when I can go to the place to walk around, and run that list. Further information I will gather will be based on the 'what is it about this program that drew them to provide this program' I may need a security guard due to the nature of some issues we have been dealing with in our area. I am prefacing with this information. Please read through the PDF, and give feedback!

A note of comment: If there is one thing I absolutely detest, and that is the amount of money which goes into free giveaway gifts that go straight to the garbage! Keep filling up those landfills. It's part of the choice I made to stop attending some of those types of events. That is the reason we are intentional about giving gifts with true meaning. It's also a great way to spread the message of our mission... I do believe gifts given with true thought and sincerity are good for building relationships. I give thoughtful gifts to my team, based on those things which are a meaningful part of their lives. Another thing I have noted as of lately are promised gifts which are never given... or there is a catch. 'Sign up here and get a free gift!'... then get bombarded with emails... and, oh, what happened to that promised gift, anyway? Yea. Right.

I tend to relate learning to songs and while going through this module, I am reminded of the Garth Brooks Song, When There's No One Around. Read the lyrics and see how they apply to this module specifically around training. After a “Fall Stroll” outreach I was too tired for trick or treaters but I knew we would have at least 100 kiddos… so, I asked my husband to set a bowl full on a chair outside with a sign … He thought I was nuts… my husband didnt think setting a chair out with a sign would work but truthfully they were very respectful in taking their share 😊 Very. Happy!

SOOO Gooood! I wished somebody told me about the importance of RECOVERY. besides taking a vacation, Not just a vacation, but a macro-reset with intention. I love that the part where you give us examples and breathing techniques, I would even invite Jesse to one of this modules, because she is sooo amazing in teaching how to release tension. In my carreer in sales I had 3 burned outs, bad..... Had to go to the emergency for IV - my body could not take it anymore, I was totally drained. No body ever taught me the importance of resetting my instrument, releasing what no longer serves me and reset for the next engagement.
