Hi! I struggled with my niche for so long - for me it came down to finally deciding to create the kind of content I’d personally be looking for (I am my target audience) : rebuilding my life at almost-60, with a focus on budget lifestyle/ food prep/ and my journey. So pretty broad in terms of a niche you could say. I went “all-in” in January when I had 8 subscribers. It has evolved over the past 3 months but it’s all been connected in some way to those topics, with the recurring thread of my personal story woven in lightly to build connection. Lately I’ve been really focused on meal prepping and high protein recipes, very trending, but with my spin and still talking to my audience. The biggest shift for me was getting out of my head about having the “right” niche dialed in at 100% before starting - I decided that “meal prepping on a budget” was specific enough because it fit with where I am in life and I knew I could talk about it from my perspective and offer value - if only from the standpoint of being an example to others. And that gave me the focus to get rolling. Instead of obsessing on how many people weren’t watching or subscribing lol, I decided to just focus on the process of creating content and learning how to edit and make each video a bit better than the last… and trying to implement at least one thing I was learning from the teachers in this space. (Packaging, storytelling, validating topics etc). All this to say, as my audience has grown and I’m getting comments from viewers, I’m learning what resonates etc which will help me to evolve my content. I’ve re-done my banner, tagline and channel description so many times and still haven’t nailed it but it’s close enough for now - and that’s good enough to keep moving forward. Sorry this was very long and I’m not an authority but hopefully it helps in a small way.
