Thursday question.
Coming back to the CLA discussion from Monday: What constraints do you use in training with your players to guide them towards the solutions you want to see in the game?

@Damir Djukic @Timo Issing another constraint I´ve stolen from Jordi Ribera ist playing 5 vs 5 without being allowed to play 1on1. This forces them to move without the ball and look for the gaps. It´s a really hard exercise, but maybe worth a try.

So it´s a 5vs5 without pivot. First the defense is not allowed to come up, they may just move sideways helping when there are breakthroughs. The attackers may just receive the ball in movement attacking the spaces. They can when in movement, but not receiving the ball go to pivot, but come out on the other side and take a new spot. At the beginning its hard for them playing without 1on1, but with time they start adjusting. Also the wings are allowed to run. I hope i explained it in a way you can understand? @Damir Djukic

What I started to do once or twice a week is doing statistics on an exercise we do almost every week - just a regular 3 vs 3 or 4vs3 attack - counterattack game. I write down the amount of missed shots and technical faults and we compare everytime with last week to see if we improved. It´s making them aware of the amount of mistakes and motivates them to get better. I hope that helps improving our performance in games.

@Damir Djukic I do it for the whole group, is a little easier if I am alone. But it´s actually a good idea. Preparing a list with all names and listing individually tecnical faults and missed shots.
The effect of relative age in talent identification systems
a great research of a former teammate of mine, Dr. Alfonso de la Rubia (he wasn´t yet a doctor when we played together 😐) about the relative age effect and the bio-banding model. Presentation is in spanish, but you can use english subtitles!! https://www.researchgate.net/publication/393990302_Exploring_the_role_of_sex_and_maturation_in_a_bio-banding_competition_Insights_into_pre-competition_anxiety_in_youth_handball

@Damir Djukic Very interesting, thanks. Referring to the RAE I found a very interesting article about Bio Banding (having groups of players according to their biological and not chronological age) and the eventually negative effects for "late developpers" (if that is the right english term). https://www.mobilesport.ch/aktuell/bio-banding-bessere-talententwicklung-im-nachwuchsfussball/#
Interesting YT Channel, Esfero
I’d like to introduce the YouTube channel Esfero to our Skool community. The channel is in Spanish, so it’s mainly for our Spanish-speaking coaches. You might be able to use YouTube subtitles to follow along as well. Even though it comes from the football world, it covers many topics that are highly relevant and transferable for coaches across different sports.

@Luis Figueiredo as you mentioned, this podcast is really great, especially the last one with Manolo Laguna.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caeAwlpWr6s I´d say very interesting for youth coaches when it comes to intentional learning.

Hello, my name is Marcus and I work as a handball coach with female players aged btw. 15 - 18. I am also a Phys Ed and spanish teacher in a High school in Graz. I am very into player development and constantly trying to find ways improving their tecnical - tactical abilities. I would like to incorporate more Neurotraining into my practices, improve my knowledge not only on individual but also on group tactics. After reading Doug Lemovs book I also realized how broad the field of giving feedback is. I am eager to learn more concerning that area.
