2 New Resources
Filmmaker! I have 2 new resources. Money is not A problem, but THE problem. I have pulled together an active investors website that are open to opportunities in entertainment. Fund Your Film AND When you complete a script, you have 2 options: 1) you produce the film (of which you'll need the above info), OR 2) you find a Representative to get you in the right rooms to sell your script and they come in the form of Managers and Agents. I have created a site that pulls together all of the agents and managers that are open for consideration. Find a Rep These are in BETA version. So, I need your feedback to help make these sites the best they can be. Now let's go get your project the Greenlight!

Ron, I am confused at the list. Most are listed as Managers and some as specifically talent agents. I'm guessing that all the managers are also talent managers, right? I do see some literary agents who may be able to rep screenplays to studios but the talent agents and managers probably will not do that, right? I also see, however, that it also lists genres for each so I'm not sure how that works for talent agents and managers.

@Ron Newcomb Yes, that makes sense as far as it goes. But most literary reps have only handle certain genre and screenplays may not be part of their world - they have contacts with publishing houses, not film studios, as well as expertise specific to written works. And, even if they do, it would be to sell a script, not to get a project greenlit or sell a film that has already been made. That is a different kind of agent.
How would you classify yourself?
For a long time, I’ve identified primarily as a filmmaker. But the truth is, I’ve always been something broader: a storyteller. Film is one expression of that. But it’s not the only one. As the world changes, storytellers have more tools, more platforms, and more ways than ever to bring ideas to life. That’s exciting to me. It means we’re not boxed in. We can build stories as films, books, games, communities, experiences, and more. So I’m embracing that fully. Not less filmmaker. More storyteller. Would love to hear how you all are thinking about this shift too.

I'm not a Tarantino fan but I believe it was he who said, "you're not telling a story; you're making a movie." I identify with that, although referring to it as telling a story is unavoidable. Some great films are all about the story while others are more about the imagery, etc. But the point is that the medium of film is to create an experience that goes beyond merely telling a story - I think that is what he was saying. So, while film is only one way to "tell a story," it is the film making that interests me, not alternative ways of telling a story. Also, the first law of screen writing is "don't tell, show." The story can be told by a mixture of means including visual and textual - captions, voice narration, etc. But the less of these supplements is required and used, generally, the better the movie. That's my 2 cents.
