Please share Print Tips!!!
My printer came in!!! YAYYYY! I ended yup going with the Canon Pixma G620, and let me tell you, I have ALOT to learn... I dowloaded photoshop, set my dimensions, set to 300 DPI, uploaded my file, adjusted my colors, converted to profile, and then hit print....DISASTER!! The colors are all wrong, I thought I understood RGB and CMYK color profiles but turns out my brain is smooth in this department. AND learning photoshop seems like jumping from arithmetic to calculous... PLEASE SHARE TIPS!!!! 🎨🙏

What paper did you use? I found out that it depends a lot on the paper, how the colors come out! The good thing about Canon is that you can adjust the colors settings quite well and make it be as close looking like the real colors as possible for that paper. But I don’t know how to do that exactly still gave to get more into that too). Easier is to use preset Color profiles, I think with some research you might find the one that works best for the paper you want to use.
Seems like being an artist is more screen time than creating time 🎨
It's now 9:30 EST and I have not yet painted, drawn, or designed anything... I suppose if you count content creation (filming + editing) you might say I was being creative; I however just feel like my eyes are going to fall out from looking at a screen all day, and like I wasted a ton of time. But I didn't!! I got a lot of things done on my laptop that I've been meaning to do! Why does it feel unproductive? Can anyone else relate?

Yes that’s me 🥲 So sad because imagine that you could invest all this time in creating new things instead 🙈 I would really like to share more process videos or maybe even tutorials, but filing and cutting takes soooo much time! And printing, photo shooting and promoting products too🙉
Why I'm buying a printer...with no print orders...😅💌
Ok so I've been doing a lot of research on outsourcing prints verse investing in your own printer. As a tiny art business who hasn't made any sales yet, you may be wondering why I would even consider dropping hundreds of $$$ on a printer with no print orders yet! So let's talk about it! So firstly, I decided that I will be printing on demand in the beginning of selling prints! if you don't know, that means printing only when there's an orders placed as opposed to keeping a large stock of prints in your inventory. This makes more sense for me since I don't have guaranteed print sales coming in, and If I outsourced a large stock of prints, I could end up losing money if they don't sell well ( Fine art prints are PRICEY!! ) Secondly, I'm starting a print club that will include letters, coloring pages, and stickers, so even if I was outsourcing my prints for the club, I would still need to purchase a regular cheaper household printer. Assuming I'm successful in gaining members to my club, I would be going through a decent amount of ink, and because most standard printers run on cartridges, replacing them constantly can get EXPENSIVE. So I would want to buy an EcoTank. Thirdly, ordering processing time. For print orders, I would prefer to send them myself. Many artists like to do this so that they can add goodies to the order, write a thank you card and use their customized packing materials. So FUN!! To do this when outsourcing means the customer places the print order on your site, you then place the oder to the print service, it takes around 5 business days to get to YOU, you the pack + ship it and then it takes even LONGER to get to the customer. I don't know about you guys but whenever I'm ordering something online and it says estimated arrival time is in 5 - 10 business days, I'm immediately turned off. We live in a time of amazon prime and instant gratification...unfortunately😅 So all that to say I have come to the conclusion that hurting my pockets a little bit more now, will save me time and money in the future....what do you guys think?! Would you wait to buy one until you saw print orders coming in?

I got the Canon Pixmar G650 about one year ago, also because of printing own stickers and art prints. So far it’s doing a great job! It’s also a Tank model with 6 Color and can even handle thicker paper (230g) very well. It seems quite ink saving to me and was compared to for example the Epson Ecotank T8550 way cheaper. Before I bought it, I made a post on threads about what printer to buy and if Epson or Canon and most people who had experience with both, recommended the Canon one to me. I think an investment in an own printer definitely makes sense, I have so many stickers laying around that I didn’t sell, even if I always print only 3-4 of one design and don’t know where to store or what to do with them so imagine how it would be if you always source the production out 🙈😅

@Ría Suri Studio Oh yeah I think the G650 (that I have) and the G620 are the same, the number is different in an other country for some reason 🤣

Hi everyone! ☺️ I’m Malin, a kawaii artist who loves creating cute illustrations with my original characters. I started a quarterly mail club last August, first more like patreon rewards. I learned a bit on the way, but I think it’s too much to share in this post 😅 Short version: - Don’t expect too much - slow growth doesn’t mean your club/products are not good - promoting takes min. as much time and effort like designing your mail 🙈 - share on different platforms to find your target audience - add something that feels personal - connect with other people who run a mail club so that you can do exchanges and help each other promoting or giving feedback/helping with your mail concept My Happy Mail started with 5 different tiers (also a digital only one) but people joined only one, so I decided to reduce it to only one physical tier after two seasons 🙈 My current mail includes: 🌷 1-2 die-cut stickers 🌷 art print 🌷 a mini sticker sheet or set 🌷 extra paper goodies that can always be different (in the spring mail it’s a tiny zine, in winter it was a hand drawn doodle) 🌷 personal letter It’s still a tiny club (3 members), but I really love working on new products and designs for it. Members can also see behind the scenes and help shape future ideas! I’d love to create a space where we support, inspire and motivate each other to get creative. If you like cute art & stationery, I’d be happy if you check it out. You can also buy the spring edition for a one time purchase in my shop (no subscription) to try it out before joining the club ☝️😋 https://ko-fi.com/rumaankawaii Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rumaan_kawaii?igsh=MWNidDV3cmk3bWQwdQ%3D%3D&utm_source=qr Threads: https://www.threads.com/@rumaan_kawaii?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

@Elizabeth Bautista Thanks!🤗 Yes, it’s a bit like patreon. Your can receive „coffee“ money from people who want to support you, you can open memberships and even open an own shop and sell digital and physical products there. I think patreon might have a few more functions like live stream or group chat, that ko-fi doesn’t have, but if I remember right, the percentage of the money they keep of the money you make by your sales, is a but lower on ko-fi.
