IMO, there may be a scenario where the studios may use AI to create scripts with story structures and arcs not directly attributable to any individual writers. Dialog could be created with AI guide-rails like "ChatGPT, Spock wouldn't say anything here. He would more likely stay quiet and raise an eyebrow", for instance. Look at Khan Academy, Duolingo, and others using guide-rails. Guide-rails give an AI boundaries to observe and rules to follow which can allow an AI to mimic intuitive choices that humans make in a focused setting. [I'm talking to a kid > Use simpler vocabulary OR This is about math > Ignore relationship advice, etc...] I think it's a tough spot for writers and I hope the strike works in their favor, but I don't have a good feeling about it because of the timing of the strike. I feel they should have done it during the pandemic when their unique talents were far more valuable and people were trapped at home with fewer distractions to help pass the time.
