I send quick emails to let them know of anything important just to keep them in the loop. i.e. successes and challenges. For overall operations we meet monthly anyway so they are encouraged to speak their mind. I do an annual board meeting which focuses on important topics. This is fed by our strategic plan. We do that just about every three to five years.

Hello! My name is Lynn Serra, Executive Director of Galilee Mission, Inc. Narragansett, RI. I am also Treasurer on the Board of Horizon Healthcare Partners, Past President, current Governance Committee chair for The Substance Use and Mental Health Leadership Council of RI. What I wish boards did better was to hold their members to the attendance policy. Its hard to continually fill people in on the topics we discuss at the regularly scheduled meetings when they continually miss them.
