Skool is more social than Social Media - Skool News Livestream Highlights
Weekly broadcast notes and screenshots from Skool News Unfortunately I missed the first 10 minutes but I snagged some sensational stuff for you anyhow as well as these notes: Highlights 😻 🛡️ New Community Safety Tools * Risk Score: Ongoing signal-based score to identify high-risk users. * Auto-Mod: Automatically flags problematic content. * DM Spam Trap: Separates spam in direct messages completely. * These three tools together form the core moderation toolkit for communities. --- 🌟 School of the Week Examples 🎶 Harmony (Bana Nguyen) - Community focused on golden ratio frequencies - $11,111 MRR (yes, very on-brand). - $15/month pricing. - Primary growth channel: **Instagram → School about page**. - Simple funnel: social profile → bio link → join → recurring revenue. --- 🧶 Fantasy Makers Guild (Lizzy Townsend) * Niche: crochet + fantasy fandom* * $5/month, currently $100 MRR * Traffic sources: * Instagram: ~58% * School network: ~20% * Example of niche stacking (crochet × fantasy). * Tip shared: put the **School link first in bio** to increase joins. * Lizzy actively documents her journey inside School, boosting visibility. --- 🪗 Accordion Time (Joachim Monson) * Community for making real progress as an accordion player. * Free community * 61% of traffic from the School network * Growth driven largely by search and discovery, not a big audience. * Example of niche discoverability working even without heavy marketing. * Highlight moment: Joachim played the School News theme on accordion 🎵 📈 Big Platform Takeaways * Small audiences (even 500–1,000 followers) can build strong communities. * Many successful communities started with no audience at all * School’s internal discovery works especially well for: * Niche interests * Searchable topics (ukulele, accordion, beekeeping, etc.) 🌐 School vs Traditional Social Media * School is becoming more social than social media:

Around one-sixth of the things on this platform are teaching people comfort, ease, and self-sufficiency with AI, so I look forward to seeing how this plays out. I went to art and music school and am skilled in writing. While I don't want anyone who trains AI to use my voice or music or art without asking or giving credit, I'm comfortable with it -- it's energy, just like us. Let's co-create with it!
Great Community Leaders: The Only 4 Ways To Get Traffic On Skool
Jason Flamm dropped an incredibly insightful new YouTube video to help you grow your Skool He says "I think the biggest mistake most people make is they chase tactics without really committing to a specific strategy that could actually move the needle for them." This video will help you fix that. Enjoy! 👉 Get more great insights and training when you join Great Community Leaders The big idea: All traffic strategies fall into four buckets. Every tactic is just a variation inside one of them. When people stall, it’s usually because they bounce between tactics instead of committing to one bucket long enough for it to compound. 1️⃣ Organic Content Purpose: Long-term trust + visibility Speed: Slow Cost: Free Pain: Patience - You must have organic content if you want a long-term Skool business. - It builds trust, familiarity, and perceived authority. - People usually need ~7 hours of exposure before they buy. - This is not about going viral. It’s about consistency over time. - Works best if you accept slower growth and play the long game. Key truth: Organic content builds warm traffic. Warm traffic converts better later, even if growth is slow now. 2️⃣ Paid Ads Purpose: Speed Speed: Fast Cost: Money + skill Pain: Churn + wasted spend if done poorly - Paid ads buy targeting and timing. - AI-driven platforms are very good at finding the right people. - This is the fastest way to grow member count. - Requires budget, testing, and skill (or hiring someone who has it). - Often leads to higher churn if messaging or offer is unclear. Key truth: Paid ads amplify what already works. They don’t fix weak positioning or unclear value. 3️⃣ Partnerships & Word of Mouth Purpose: High-quality members Speed: Medium (with spikes)

Thanks - I love @jason-flamm yet I can't keep up with all the ways to do things here! What works does so for the individuals using those methods and investing their time. We can't invest our time everywhere and at some point, we need to commit. I think he could really clear that up for someone. ❤️

People are concerned. About a sixth of the things on this platform are teaching people comfort, ease, and self-sufficiency with AI! I went to art and music school and am skilled in writing. I'm old-school, and I don't want anyone who trains AI on voices and music and art to use mine without asking or giving credit. Yet still, I'm comfortable with it -- it's energy, just like us, and we created it. Can't we co-create with it?
