Retiming vocals.
Im working on a DNB remix for a reggae track which is 98bpm (158bpm double time) turning it into 174 DNB track. What’s a preferred way for Time stretching the vocals? I’m using abletons complex pro. Which I think sounds ok. But I want to preserve the vocals the best way before I process with delays / reverbs etc to avoid artefacts. Ive tried slicing manually but it will need a lot of editing to preserve the rhythm of the vocal and there are harmony’s to edit as well. I’m thinking slicing is probably the best option, But long! If slicing, any tips for doing for the good results? I also have melodyne, but haven’t looked at that yet. Any thoughts much appreciated. :)

Screeching Seagull
wasnt expecting to do this today but my mate sent me a recording this morning of him on the radio being interviewed after winning the Braunton seagull screeching competition 😂😂😂 and said make something out of it. so i gave myself 4 hours and here is what i've done. The recording was from a phone recording the radio, so obviously it's terrible quality and with background noise but i've done my best in the short time. I had my kick and snare ready to go from my presets but everything else is made from scratch or a sample - no prep frame. after the 4 hours i took a break then 10 more minutes for tidying up best i could. i'll include the original recording below as well. 😅

@Karl Richardson i think you could be onto something here. You’d have MC’s seagull squeaking when the track gets played in the rave. 🤣😀
Proof the techniques work
I’m currently sat at #5 on beatport charts for my genre, up there with some huge names in the scene, thanks to the techniques I learned here 👌 big up OTG!

🔥 REMIX CONTEST RESULTS 🔥
Directly from the main man, Mark Giles: "Dear everyone, [I'M BROKE IBIZA] would like to sincerely thank you all for your incredible efforts in the BLIND remix competition via Owen Palmer. It has been truly inspiring to witness such talent and to see how you've embraced our wider family of producers in an industry that is constantly evolving. We are excited to build upon these contributions as the world navigates this digital revolution of AI and advanced machine learning. In these times, musical integrity and personal integrity remain so important amid the wider spiritual battles we all face daily. Many of us who have been in this space for some time "observing the nature of the beast" have carved out clear pathways, achieving what we consider modest successes. We hope that in the future we can inspire others to join these battles, particularly the men in our stories, our brothers from other mothers. Brothers in arms, fighting the good fight. Music was our first love, and we were lucky to find each other so quickly within the simulation. Music is always loyal, ever ready to transport us back through our life's journey with love, vibes, listening, appreciation, and memories. Whatever happens, we must remain appreciative of the fact that God has given us all such talents and gifts: eyes to see, ears to hear, hearts to trust, and one central eye to find our way through the darkness so that we may fill it with our creative spirit. Thank you all again.
