Hey @Michael Patterson, thank you so much for the detailed feedback. Really glad the jump mechanic worked for you. Some people just skip the whole mechanic. The retry button was definitely non-negotiable, but I like you still have to play the whole game without dying for maximum score. As for development time it took about 2 months of some of my spare time. I have a full time job and other hobbies too. Thanks again for playing!

Thanks so much for playing and covering my game! It really means a lot!
New project on the works
I'm working on an arkanoid clone. Mechanics are mostly done, now I'd like to focus on the sprites and sfx. What do you think about the paddle jump or laser shots?

@Sander van Leth The jump slightly increases ball speed, creating a trade-off: the added difficulty of increased speed is offset by increased pad horizontal speed while jumping, letting you reach otherwise unreachable balls. Jump also has an extra feature, since you can now hit the ball at different vertical positions on the pad, you naturally vary the trajectory, giving you more control over your shots.

Here's the current progress. Sprites, SFX, and music are done. Level design is a whole new skill on its own. I'm iterating every level through a lot of playtesting. Nothing is set in stone, so feel free to suggest improvements!
My First Game Dev Project
Hello everyone! I'm Lucas from Spain. I recently started game development as a hobby, and my very first programming project was SpaceCat's Flappy Bird Tutorial. I even added some extra features on my own. Try it out: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=179054#p

I’m getting into game development as a hobby, even though I don’t have any previous programming experience.
