Finish-it Friday #5
👋 Heyo! Here’s a creative lick challenge for the weekend. Step 1: Watch the video below. Step 2: Learn ONE of the 3 riff variations - the easy, medium or hard one. Step 3: Make up your own ending for it, record and share it under this post! ❕Skip to 2:19 for the easy difficulty riff. ❗Skip to 4:10 for the medium difficulty riff. ‼️ Skip to 6:44 for the hard difficulty riff. ✨ I'm excited to see what you'll come up with this time!

Love that tone. I feel like you can replicate it with a good drive/fuzz mix and maybe some delay tooling.
Put pieces around this Phrygian modeled Motif
Is that Hum distracting to anybody else? I have no idea how to reduce it any further. I made it worse by using the p90 instead of just the Humbucker. But the break up sounded so much better with it on.

@Christian Lie I played Symphony of the night so much as a kid.

@Christian Lie I don't think I ever played that one. I only every played Symphony and the one before it. Symphony still stands as it's own aesthetic thing, even considering the metroidvania genre as a whole.
Motif I'm Trying to build around
After Mars Volta got brought up a few weeks ago I tried playing in that kind of jazzy double stop dyad kinda style but I applied it to one of my favorite chord progressions. After toying around I came up with this. I feel like I could do some cool stuff with it. Just need to figure out what to put around it.

@Christian Lie I liked 6 chords for funk embellishments.

@Christian Lie I haven't heard much from them in years. But I did listen to their big 3 albums when I was a kid.
Song I Am Working On
https://youtu.be/RYUU43Lj0pg?si=G41IzI8c6laOQRXf This is a song i have been working on. I plan on recording myself performing it everyday for a week straight and picking the best version. It is a solo piece and I have been toying with the main motif and tension ramps for awhile The main part motif is ingrained in my memory at this point but the tension parts are somewhat improvised and a little different from take to take. I have planned out the song form using an an energy shape concept that I picked up from the "Everything in its Right Place: Analyzing Radiohead" and combining it with concepts i learned from another book "The Addiciton Formula." Low Energy Intro ( Main Motif) Gradual Tension Build Reset (Main Motif) Second Tension Build Reset (Main Motif) Final Build to Climax Dissolving of Motif

@Christian Lie I've got some stuff I've been toying with but I misplaced my pedal outlet so I haven't been recording. I'm thinking of coming up with songs to match scales or mode theme off a YT shorts campaign to drum up some views.

@Christian Lie Yeah I've just been writing riffs off scales and modes, not even really an hours worth of effort and some of these shorts are getting 1k views and when I stay on it I get at least 2 new subs per 7 videos. Not Mr. Beast numbers but at least it's momentum.
