Practice Throw ~35-37 meters
My second practice transitioning to the 1.6kg disc, just wondering if I could get any tips or tweaks to help my technique going into my freshman year. Anything helps!

I think you could benefit from being wider with the sweep leg and lower out the back

I noticed you led the throw pretty hard with your upper body out the back, I think it would help if you focused on kicking around with the sweep leg and keeping the upper body back. I think it would also help if you tried to keep your eyes and chest up out the back, when you turn into the ring your upper body was facing down a bit which can throw off your orbit and balance.

This throw was about 147ft in warms up.

I don’t know if this would help you but it looked like you were very rigid and even with the speed, it might help to slow down in the back and focus on accelerating
What’s the numbers should a thrower be at to throw 165FT
In terms of gym numbers such as Bench, squats, cleans, snatch. Also, in terms of plyometrics such 20m sprint time, vert jump, Standing broad jump Share your thoughts!

I think it entirely depends on the individuals proportions, I’ve seen some super tall lanky guys throwing bombs despite putting up weaker weight room numbers because they have a leverage advantage. For the lifts, I think there is a guide posted here a long time ago that shows rough benchmarks by %of body weight and amount of years trained. For 1-3 years of training I think it said 1.75xbw for squat, 1.3xbw for bench, 1xbw power clean, and 0.8xbw for overhead press.

@Tamunoibi Dabipi that was a great throw! I think it would help you to slow down out the back and focus on acceleration throughout the throw though, you have a strong push and positioning out the back and into the ring, as well as a powerful release, but I think the half turn to the front could be a lot faster. Right now, I think most of your power is coming from the release, not much power from the entire spin is carried to the end

@Tamunoibi Dabipi you’re hitting the positions really well, but I think it would help you to turn more aggressively with the right foot
